Trying since long:Day2 LH is 5.4

Name: Devi I have been married for 6 years. Trying since 5 years. Ovarian Cystectomy (Left Ovary removal due to cyst) done before marriage. Have PCOD. Done 7 times of IUI. Got conceived in 3rd IUI and aborted in 45 days.

Have learnt from my experience, that the success rate for IUI is high if Day2 LH is below 5.

MY last LMP is 21.12.2008. Day 2 LH is 5.4.

Could anyone got conceived in IUI though Day2 LH is above 5. I am in dilema whether to go for IUI this month? Please help.

Hi devi

Hi Devi,

As far as I know there is no relation between IUI and urine infection. You may happen to have urine infection the month you went for IUI, but does not mean that every month you will have it.
urine infection is cured by antibodies.
I would suggest that after trying 8 cycle of IUI with medication - if no success is achieved than you consult with good doctor and move on to ivf option.

Hi Devi

Dear Devi,

Success of IUI really depends on several factor such as: your age, your response to medication, male factor, PCOD etc.
Usually doctors in USA try 6 cycle with injectible medication and depend on the result and some of above factors, decide to move on to IVF.
I never heard any relation with success of iui and day 2 LH level.

About Metformin

Hi Devi,

Seems like we r in the same boat. I also have PCOD and been through 4 unsuccessful IUIs and 3 IVFs. Recently, my doctor has put me on Metformin due to high level of suger but he says that it should help me with the PCOD and i might b able to conceive naturally.
Are you taking Metformin for PCOD or any other condition like diabetes? Since you have been taking it for 2 years, have you seen any difference with PCOD (like regular period)?

Hi SS
Thanks for your response.
I am 29 yrs old. I have PCOD and am taking Metformin for 2 years.
I got conceived in my 3rd IUI in the Year 2005 when my LH level was 3.5. But got aborted in 45 days as I was not taking metformin and poor growth of follicles. (Follicle ruptured on 26th day of periods after taking 16 HMG injections)
After that I have undergone several IUIs when the LH level was >6.5. I didn´ t get conceived in any IUI.

This month My Gyn.suggested me to do urine culture and Sensitivity. After seeing my report she said I have urine infection.

Please let me know whether there is any relation between the Urine infection and success of IUI.
