I have a year old baby. I need some advice on how to encourage self feeding, when to start? My baby still has pureed foods throughout the day, he does eat cheerios by himself. Thank you all for your help.

Some children take a little longer than others so don’t worry.. let her take her time.. My daughter started eating a little after she completed one year. Till then she refused to put any food in her mouth on her own.. After one year she started eating some things she liked like biscuits And cheese. Now at 15 months she eats a little fruit, sweets etc.. she still wont eat rice on her own
I feed her all her main meals.. the snacks in between meals I let her eat on her own.. usually she’ll eat a bite or two and then ask me to feed her.. I feed her.. a few bites and then put a piece in her hand see if she’ll eat it on her own.. if not feed her again.. I don’t force her to eat on her own… I learnt very early that I cant force my dd to do anything she dosent want to do

She started eating small pieces of chapatti and biscuit very early.. but everything else had to be pureed. This changed slowly.. now since a week she has started eating her rice and dal also without pureeing.. this was the last item in her diet which had to be pureed though it is actually softer than chapatti and most other items she had started chewing.. these kids :)
If your kid is eating cheerios that means he can chew properly.. so let him take his time to move from pureed food to solids.. introduce other finger food he may enjoy like biscuits & cheese to encourage him to eat solids
