My Gyne has not done any ovlaution tests. she gave ovafar tables and progestrone tab for 2 months and now suggested HSG. Is this the correct test? I am confused. Shall I consult some other gyne. I stay in Hyd.

My gynec has suggested HSG to rule out if my tubes had any blocks. But I had adhersions so lap was done to remove them. For me they took about 1/2 hr to perform HSG. It was not painful as I remember.

Unfortunately I am not familiar with doctors in India. I am in US. Go through this forum as I have seen this question being asked before. Good luck.

I am not sure why your doctor has not done any tests for finding out if you ovulate or not. I find that very strange. Could you ask her about it ? You should be able to - would be a comfortable question/inquiry. Has she done a post coital test on you ? This is to see if sperms are alive & swimming after intercourse.
You should go for a HSG. I highly recommend it. Perhaps after the HSG you can see what the doctor does. If your tubes are open, then perhaps put you on some fertility meds and see if that triggers conception. Or they may even suggest artificial insermination. But you should go to a reproductive endocronologist (RE) at this point. Gyn are not specialists. So depending on how long you are trying, you should consider a RE.
If your tubes are blocked, then she should refer you to a RE for sure. At this time your option is for laparascopy to see what is the cause of the block and if it can be corrected.

But go for the HSG first and see what results it brings. Try to relax as much as possible during the procedure as you may cramp and it could cause spasms. It is not painful and only takes less than an hour. All should be fine. Good Luck.

Hi Astha,
HSG is done to check if any of your fallopian tubes are blocked. My doctor also suggested the same. It its an essential test and do not worry its not very painful

I am not familiar with the meds you mentioned but they seem to be for ovulation. Perhaps it is to regulate your ovulation.
I am not sure what you mean by not having any ovulation tests done. What are the meds for then ? The first test any gyn does is a blood test to measure your progesterone level to determine if you ovulate or not. Home tests are also available at drugstores.
Regarding HSG - I had this done. It is a standard test to see if your tubes are open. They inject a dye through your cervix and it should fill your tubes which means your tubes are open. Before you do the test you would be put on antibiotics to prevent any slight chance of infection. HSG, when done properly, doesn' t cause infection in your tubes so you should be safe.

From what you write, seem like your doctor put you on meds to regulate your ovulation and now wants to check to see if your tubes are open. Fertility treatment is always a process of elimination. I beleive you are on the right path.
Ask questions about the steps she is taking / planning to take. There is method to madness, beleive me. Good Luck

How are you doing? By tests I mean, my doctor has not done any test to determine if I am ovaluting or not. No test for LSH FSH or ovalution study. HSG is the very fisrt she has recommeded. So I am confused if I shall go for it not?
