As a part of monthly checkups with Doc , are you examined if mouth of uterus is open kinda vaginal inspection , also they check for any bacterial infections which are some of the reasons for premature labour .

Btw today i had my Glucose test .. and initially Doc said i had 91 and later 1 hr later 120 and again after 1 hr 105 . Didnot understand the count much though , but she said there no sign of Diabetus i am so glad , planned to celebrate with some sweets :-)

During my 18th week, they did a pap smear and detected that I had Yeast infection. I was on medication for a week for it. After that, they haven't done any vaginal tests. I guess, we need to tell them if we have any itching or something like that. Two things doctor does during the visits are hearing to the heartbeat and measuring the uterus.

Congrats on getting through the GTT. I was thinking 140 was the limit, may be I am wrong.

Vindhya Avi replied. Congrats Preetu on getting through the test with flying colors. I think the level should not be more than 130 or so. Anything below that is normal.

I had my test yesterday and I will get my results back in a day or two.

I've never had a internal/vaginal check after my very first visit. As far as I know, they try to keep the internal check ups to the minimum.
I had a bladder infection a few months back and they found StrepB in my bladder. I was treated with antibiotics and will be put on antibiotics all through labor. The test for Strep B is usually done around the 35th week, cause if not diagnosed-although the bacteria does not cause us any harm the baby might swallow it on his/her way out and get infected. Like you said, if undetected the bacteria can lead to premature labor too.
Since I've already been diagnosed with having the bacteria, the results of the vaginal swab in my 35th wont matter. I will have to be on antibiotics during labor and I will have to get to the hospital pretty fast once the labor starts. aaaaahhhhhhh ...... what we women have to go through, but I wont trade it for anything in this world.

Anyways......congrats again for getting over yet another bump succesfully and enjoy em' sweets. :)
