Can somebody tell me whether Coconut water is good during pregnancy? Somebody said that it is good to drink one glass of coconut water, since it is good for the baby's brain and colour...is it true? Moreover, my in-laws have doubts that it has extra protiens and it is not v.good for me? Please advise....

Hi Sonu,

I've heard that if it is taken during the last trimester, we'll have an easy labor. I haven't heard of any harmful side-effects though. As Simmi said, its better to double-check with your doctor.

Hi Sonu

I have been recommeded Coconut water by my in laws in pregnancy. Of course the fair color is they reason. But I also found it has good nutritional value. Plus the \";taseer\"; is cold that is good too. In fact my sis in law had coconut water throughout her pregnancy and then she even gave it to the baby after somtime (when the baby starts having water) once a day. Looks like if it is not beneficial it is not harmful at all, but of course like Simmi said you must double check.

Here is the info I found on it

The Nutritional Value…
Coconut water has the following constituents.
• The most important constituent is –water!
• Easily assimilable sugar.
• A daily dose of Vitamin C.
• Several vitamins in the B group, like niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, riboflavin, folic acid, thiamin and pyridoxine (in traces).
• Sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, phosphorus, sulphur and chlorine.

The Therapeutic Value…
During the days of the Second World War, it is said that, during an emergency, both American and Japanese military doctors did not hesitate to dip coconut water instead of sterile glucose solutions straight into a person's veins. That is how potent the water of the coconut shell is. Outlined below are the innumerable therapeutic powers of coconut water.

The intake of Coconut water is very effective in the following ailments.

Digestive System Disorder: It is valuable in diseases like indigestion, colitis, gastric ulcers, diarrhea, dysentery arid piles. It is also an excellent remedy for flatulence, vomiting and dyspepsia. In case of excessive vomiting, it is a food medicine of great value when all other methods have failed.
Urinary Disorders: It acts as a natural diuretic (A substance that tends to increase the discharge of urine) in heart, liver and kidney disorders such as scanty and suppressed urination, albuminuria that in presence of protein in urine, dropsy and high acidity of urine

Hi Sonu. I eat cocunut a lot, though it is more fattening than anything, I enjoy it. I have heard about cocunut water being good for complexion of the baby but I think it is more a myth than fact. But if your in laws are suggesting it has protein, it is worth double checking so that intake can be controlled.
Though I doubt if taken in moderation it will have any implications.

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
