sry dear for late reply..festivals,kids and health made me occupied..got nirja to school so its been hard adjustng her new schedule with samarth ! everything altogether challenges me,,it seems :)
here are some punch points for you, for the diet you have been following,,it will help you thru out :
1.most kids during cold get constipted even with tons of liquids ! its commmon,,its the mucus that mess up the bowels...reducing some things might help little but wont eliminate it until they recover....you can reduce or eliminate those things for the time being or make them part of the diet instead of thr seperate serving...
make sure your child is well hydrated with water, soups and room temperature fresh juices.
2. ne dairy product oftn causes constipatn when offerd esp in solid form,,ghee n cheese are those.. ghee when given in warm to hot or liquid consistency is a pwerful lubricant enough to give you loose motions !! yup, they drink it with milk or tea if you are constipated !! i did that too during my 8th month,,i drained out :))
offer ghee,,ghee is good for health ! but dont overdo or dont give things like sheera, ne foods made in ghee,,offer a lil in rice etc, when rice is hot ,,n offer by the time its liquid and not when it forms crystals on the food ! it wil not constipate that way..ayurveda considers ghee as Life ! sometimes later will explain that,,its very interesting !
3. considerng tht your child is 11months, i guess, i hope i rem it well,,,your diet plan DOES NOT HAVE :
-----1. DALS ...MOONG DAL,DILUTED TOOR DAL/LIKE RASAM OR SOUP,WHOLEMOONG ??? WHERE ARE THEY ?? GIVE THEM,,THEY WILL HELP. DONT OFFER NE DAL IN THICK CONSISTENCY,,THINNNER THE BETTER AS LUBRICANT !ADD IN YOUR SOUPS..GREAT.
-----2. FRUITS..... I DONT SEE THEM ! WHERE ARE THEY ?? lower the use of avacado..its one of those foods that tends to produce mucus..lower the use not avoid it !
------3. GRAINS.... where are they, other than iron fortified cereals ?? no roti soaked in dal, no rice or no other grains other than oatmeal..oatmeal you are offering with milk ! iron fortifed food with dairy..try offering instead with fruits puree or even juice it wil help ! if you are plannng to start wheat after 12months,,i dont see rice or ne other single grain either,,except for the whole oatmeal i guess which you cook in milk or offer in milk ! add in some cinnamon, cardamom in it !
-----4.offer soups during the 12 noon time,,and thn at 2 offer him good meal/lunch that has 1 grain, 1 rice, 1 dal and vegies,,it could be in form of thin khichadi mixed with soaked roti or could be khichadi with pastas and vegetables or sambhar, rice, roti...
-----5. avoid offerng too much iron fortified meals at night...instead offer khichadi or dal rice with loads of vegies ! it will help in consitpatn nd will regulate bowels.cerelac i think i read in your post in your dinner time,,so you might want to cut the qty n add some rice or ne other option to it.
-----6. kids tend to feel nausea, vommitng like sensatns for foods that cause sticky feel, foods that leave a lining/dairy or starchy like potatoes or even sometimes plain roti,,or chewy feel for some kids..or dry paste..
so always offer such foods with lots of liquids like soups, dals n such,,it will help them to swallow at ease..also most of the times the throat passges are very irritated because of constinuous coughs or mucus build up which irritates the child and they gag whatever they eat !! so make sure to make food that is tender enough and not too spicy..
sometimes they might eat the whole meal and throw it off,,and in that if your observe they throw out the thick mucus too !! check it next times...
other reason is congestion..most kids when fed during congestion,,vomit out ! make sure you clean your child nose nicely before feeding him..it will help.
as soon as your feed him, make him stand on your arms or let him stand..it will help him throw less or suffer less with reflux.just aftr your child throws up,clear the nasal passages and make sure to offer a nice warm-cool water to comfort them...
dairy tends to leave a thick lining as it passes thru the mouth to stomach,,and thus this helps to build mucusso offer dairy with least fat or no fat or make sure you offer it boiled n cooled--remove the cream and thn offer lukewarm or rather the best for kids who are sensitive to cold attacks,,offer soy !
otherwise ayurveda offers remedy for cure like warm/hot milk with turmeric, salt n sugar !!!
all this should help in future n nowon...
take care, n have fun ! happy festival days to everyone.
