I am a Punjabi married to a Tamilian and we have 2 children. 3 years back we moved into this country from Bangalore. Since we are both from Bangalore, we had a lot of friends and relatives and so our weekends were busy in Bangalore but since we have moved here we have been unsuccessful in getting good friendships. My husband who is essentially an introvert doesn't seem to mind at all but I am miserable. Though I am busy with the kids, I would love to meet friends and invite them over. For one, here the people are clannish and since we dont fit into north Indian or south Indian associations, we are generally ignored by our countrymen. I have made numerous attempts towards friendship-calling up people, helping them when they are in need, hosting parties etc. I am now beginning to feel something is wrong with me that noone wants to be friends with me. I have never had such a problem in my entire life in India. I dont think anything is wrong with my personality or my family. Please help. Friend replied. I am also facing a similar situation.But in my case I am an introvert and my hubby is quite outgoing.We recently moved to a new place and I also try my level best to make friends but end up feeling isolated.I feel that it is very difficult to make friends when these friends have already got their own group and do not actually bother to make a newcomer feel comfortable and join them.But I guess the only option left is to be patient and keep on trying and maintain contacts and some day we might succeed.And please do not think that there is anything wrong with u or ur personality.....infact u r taking so much efforts and still if u feel this way then there must be something wrong with the people around u...so be patient.
