Hi hetal
It' s so good to have u back on this board.
I have read in many of your posts that it' s OK to give veggis at night but better restrict fruits to day time. Why ? Is it just that our body absorbs nutrients better during the day time or is there any other reson. Let me know when u have some time.

most fruits contains ascorbic acid, or acidic in nature, acc to ayurveda standpoint,,and it tends to give burps when given in high amts nd body is resting..some also give bigger burps leading to reflux..if so, thr is a possiblty that at night the child might remain fussy or uncomfortable..once your child is at the adult age where his digestive matures, n he is able to eat one adult serving,,which is by 2years,,its okay to give some fruits.
again, not all fruits, but most fruits are acidic in nature..fruits like mango, apple/with skin, banana are good to eat before bedtime but for adult kids above 2years or adults..
for kids banana tends to give constipatn because its extrmly high in calories...n it also dpends alot on body type,,thats the only reason for some its a gr8 remedy to cure constipatn,,while other kids get constipatn !
apple having high iron tends to give constipatn naturally,,but it also acts as a fibr if eaten with skin and helps body to regain iron lost thru out the day, and mango is has good natural fats n natural fibrs in it...so when taken these at nights, morning bowels tend to be frequent and also for some they get regular bowels...
if given before child system isnt mature enough, all it can do is cause is sleeplessness or restless, tossing n turning too many times or may be potty at night.
not only fruits at night, bt ne food that contains high amts of ne particular nutrient tends to upset the stomach n gives a lil restlessness while asleep..
all these foods given the morning times, due to active body, digests quite well, n so thr is no reason that they will cause ne probs...
if you know, there is a saying :
\" Have Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Queen and Dinner like a Beggar\"
its only because as the day passes, body tends to get tired, stresses out and needs rest,,in that if you fill your stomach with high amts of food or ne particular food with one high nutrient,ur body or digestive flora has to work hard to digest it....
and in rsting period/night sleep,,that efforts to digest food is more..causing stomach probs in long run..
also, make sure you have given enough liquids to your child whole day to help him stay hydrated nd stay fit..
eating light food doesnt have to be less in nutrient,,balance it well ! if you have put too much of onion or cheese in your child food, balance it with enough sugar or yogurt or ghee or just some sweet in a sep serving or form(dont offfer raw onion with yogurt as 1 serving) or with cheese, offer lesser qty that he usually takes in morning,,replace the other half by vegetables or grains !
vegiees like potato, onion, garlic, aspargus, avacado, cucumber, raddish, sweetpotato or too much of cheesy food, too much of dry food, too many lentils at night,,,for kids below 2years oftn causes bloaty feel in stomach...
once a while all okay..
health is something that doesnt show its colour in one day,,but its the habits you teach your child n his digestive system/body so that they stay healthy thr entire life and keep practsng the way you taught them...healthy eating habits makes body more strong and developmnt is always on the track,,as all nutrients are well balancd and well fed.
hope it explains well...good luck
