Subject:  Refusal to drink milk from bottle

My baby is 6.5 months old.I breast feed her twice a day..once in the morning and once before she sleeps.she relishes to drink juice from the bottle but she doesnt like to drink milk(lactogen) from the bottle.she accepts milk from spoon and if i try to give her directly from the cup she spills a lot .I feel that this way her milk consumption is very less.here I have started her on solids(cerelac, banana, papaya, mashed potato etc ...When can i completely stop breastfeeding her ?
What should i do to make her drink milk from the bottle.
Please HELP!!

Hi. My baby is nine months old. I breastfed him exclusively till he was 5 months and started on solids since. You should start your baby on solids too. Solids does not mean the food we eat but boiled/mashed vegetables, mashed fruit, fruit juice, mostly paste like food. Introduce only new food a week. So your baby can accept the food and you will be able to see if she develops any allergies to any particular food. Start with fruits fruits. all babies love bananas. plus, this site has a list of foods that babies eat. but you can ask me if you have any further questions. Good luck.

Forgot to mention this. You should continue breastfeeding till the baby is atleast one years old. You may continue after that also. But ofcourse, it is your and your babys wish. And when you wean, you should wean him gradually not suddenly.

Im really surprised uve not yet started ur baby on solids.Around 4 mths babies start showing interest in food-looking at what u are eating, dribbling saliva, feeding on milk more frequently than before etc- all these are the signs that ur baby is ready for solids. From 4-6 mths its advised to give smooth, mashed fruits, veges, rice etc but from 6-9 mths u should start coarser, thicker food and from 9mths lumpy food.these changes are v.important cos it helps in jaw developement and hence in speech. And also milk alone is NOT enough for the babys growth after 6mths.Hope this has helped and please start ur baby on solid food.Good luck!

I BREASTFED MY BABY EXCLUSIVELY FOR 3 MONTHS AND AFTER THAT SINCE I HAD TO RESUME MY WORK I HAD TO BE AWAY THE WHOLE DAY AND AT THE END OF THE DAY MY BABY WOULD NOT DRINK MY MILK THOUGH I COME HOME WITH FULL MILK AND THIS HAPPENED FOR MORE THAN TWO WEEKS AND AFTER TWO WEEKS I COULD FEEL MY MILK DECREASING DRAMATICALLY AND BY THE MIDDLE OF THE 4TH MONTH MY MILK STOPPED NOW I AM FEELING SO GUILTY THAT MY BABY IS NOT DRINKING MY MILK AND NOW EVEN IF I WANT TO BREAST FEED HER MY MILK HAD KIND OF STOPPED COMPLETELY, PLEASE IF ANYONE OF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO GET MY MILK OR HOW TO INCREASE MY MILK FLOW. SHE IS NOW DRINKING LACTOGEN AND OTHER SOLID FOODS. AND NOW AFTER ITS TOO LATE I REGRETTED FOR HAVING REJOINED MY JOB, SOMETIMES I EVEN THINK ITS OF MY SELFISHNESS THAT I WAS REJOINING MY WORK AFTER ONLY 3 MONTHS THAT MY MILK KIND OF STOPPED COMPLETELY. I THINK IT IS TOO MUCH OF A SACRIFICE.
