5 Techniques for Improving Your Child's Memory
Memorising lessons while preparing for the exams can be made easier if children are aware of certain techniques. Let us take a look at 5 such techniques that can help children to memorise their chapters faster.

Memory is an aspect that influences each and every sphere of life and good memory can be a priceless asset for any individual. There has been a lot of research on memory and the power of retaining information and it has been proved that there are several tricks which can be used for improving memory power of children.

Use Colour Coding

The human brain has a filter which decides exactly how much and which kind of information can be absorbed in the long term memory. Scientists have found out using colour can create an impact that help get past this barrier.
Colour coding can be done by marking passages in different colours. Buy a bunch of different coloured highlighters for your children and ask them to highlight important pieces of texts. You can also ask kids to use colourful pens to mark out important pages in books. The colour will help your kid identify the information that is easy to absorb.

Do Make Study Time Interesting

If you want your kids to memorise their academic stuff better then it is advisable to make study time more interesting for your children. Prepare special snacks, wear colour coded clothes and think of innovative ways in which you can enhance the study experience of your children. Research has shown that the more interesting study time becomes the easier it is for children to absorb and retain the information accumulated during that time.

Follow the Linking Theory

Scientists who have been working on the domain of human memory have come up with a few interesting facts. The linking theory of memory says that cross linked topics which have a clear connection between each other have a higher chance of being absorbed and retained in the memory.
It is possible to explain the links between different chapters in a book or different concepts or even different subjects to create a holistic picture in your child’s mind. Once your kid’s brain grasps the connections between different topics it will absorb and retain related information faster.

Take Short Naps

Research has shown that long stretches of memorising information are ineffective and taxes the brain unnecessarily. Further analysis has revealed that the neurotransmitter responsible for transmitting information into the memory cells of the brain dries up after about 20 minutes of constant use.
Scientists advise people to take short breaks or syn naps to enhance the working power of memory. These short breaks boost the neurotransmitter production and effectively amps up the memory.

Drive Away Stress

Stress always has a suppressing effect on memory by pushing the body into flight-freeze-fight mode. The mind is overburdened by stress and information simply fails to reach the long term memory portion of the brain. As a parent you should do everything possible for your kids so that they remain stress free and relaxed. The more relaxed your children are, the more improved memory functions become. Use music, laughter, exercise, games and some family bonding time to drive away stress.

Play Memory Games

The Internet is a rich resource of memory games that can be played to enhance the function of memory. There are many books available in the libraries which deal with games which boost the memory power. The best way to let your children benefit from these rich sources of knowledge is to play these games as a family activity. Your company will motivate your kids to work harder in sharpening their memory skills. Very soon you will also find your memory improving.
These simple tips of memory enhancement will help your kids function much better in their academic life and will orient them better for success.

Is it possible to improve memory of children? Which techniques can help children to memorise lessons fasters? What are the ways to improve the brain power of children? Discuss here.
