Is My Daughter Ready For Make-Up?

Is My Daughter Ready For Make-Up
Ideally, small girls should not be allowed to wear make-up as their skin is very sensitive. Make-up can have harsh effects on their skin. What are your views on it? Is your daughter ready for make-up? Read on and find out.

Ideally, small girls should not be allowed to wear make-up as their skin is very sensitive. Make-up can have harsh effects on their skin. What are your views on it? Is your daughter ready for make-up? Read on and find out.
There is no specific age set that allows a girl to start wearing make-up. Make-up is an essential part of a girl’s life. But that does not mean that she is allowed to wear it right from elementary school. Although girls do start wearing make-up from the age of 12 or 13 it is important that you initially monitor your daughter’s use of make-up. You should sit and talk to your daughter about this so that she knows when and why she should wear make-up.
Here are some tips that will help you to determine when and why you should let your daughter start wearing make-up.

1. Tell Your Daughter About Its Effects on The Skin

Before she starts applying make-up, tell her about how too much make-up ruins ones skin. Constant application and removal of make-up can be rough on the face and sometimes it leads to severe allergies. There are certain make-up items which end up leaving rashes on the skin. So buy only herbal or the best quality make-up when you get your daughter her first make–up kit.
Let her know that make-up should be kept to a bare minimum. Unless it is for a performance. Also make sure that she does not let the make-up stay on her face for long hours. You would not want your daughter to have an acne attack at such a young age.

2. When She Starts, Let Her Keep it Light

When you finally allow your daughter to wear make-up outside your house, let her start with a light lip gloss or just mascara. Then help her learn how much make-up she needs or does not need depending upon the occasion. Teach her the techniques to lather on small amounts with perfection instead of a huge bulk.

3. Ask Her Why She Wants To Wear It

If your daughter has started nagging about wearing make-up to school way too early, sit down and talk to her. Ask her why she is suddenly showing an interest in wearing make-up. Make her understand that wearing make-up to school at such a young age is not a good thing. Elementary school kids wearing make-up just does not seem right. She should realize that she is beautiful no matter what.

4. Avoid Wearing Make-up in Front of Your Daughter

Wearing make-up is not bad but allowing small girls to use make-up is definitely not a good idea. Ideally, small children are made to wear make-up during their stage performances only. Therefore, if you do not want your daughter to wear make-up, you must avoid wearing make-up in front of her if she is too young. Small children like to do what their parents do, so things like wearing make-up in front of her will definitely attract her.

5. Do Not Force or Say “No” Right Away

You must not force or say “No” right away but make her understand calmly that it is not suitable for her age if she is too young. If your daughter has just begun asking for your make-up before school, tell her that we go to school to study; make-up should be applied while going out for a party or during some special occasion.
Forcing a decision may worsen the situation and it would become a losing battle for you. She might just ignore you all together and start putting on heaps of make-up in order to look pretty. Talk to her in such a way so that she knows that you would not stop her from wearing make-up when the time is right.
But in the end she should know that even if she opts to not put on any make-up, she would still look pretty. Do not rush into things. Sit and have discussions so that your daughters know how to look beautiful, with or without make-up.

At what age should girls be allowed to wear make-up? Why should small girls avoid wearing make-up? What to do if small girls insist on wearing make-up? Discuss here.
