Throwing a birthday bash for your kid is easier said than done. You have so many things to look after that you may forget about planning for the games. Read on to learn about some easy and exciting games to get your party started or encourage kids to have some more fun after dessert.
One of the disadvantages of getting highly technical these days is that most of the old time favourite activities of kids are on the verge of extinction. There are many old fashioned homespun activities that kids would enjoy even today.
If you do not want these games to completely fade away or you are planning something completely different on your kid’s birthday party, you can try some of the easy party games specially designed for kids. Above all, you will find that kids are not lost in this computer age and are having a full lot of fun.
Passing the Parcel
This is one of the oldest and most enjoyable games that kids love to play in groups. However, you need to explain the rules beforehand and you also need to wrap a small prize which the children at the party will pass on. Remember, the wrapping is done layer by layer in this case. Children sit making a circle and the music is played. The child that holds the package when music stops takes out one layer of packaging and this continues till the last layer. The kid that unwraps the last layer gets the prize and is the winner.
Picking Up a Chit
For this game you need a bowl or basket in which you have to make a considerable number of chits with different activities written on them. Kids will sit in circle and music will be played. A ball will be passed and when music stops, the child that holds the ball will take out a chit and enact what is written on the piece of paper. You can give prizes for the best actor or dancer.
Choose a kid to become Simon and ask him to give instructions like “Simon says: clap your hands” and many more. The child has to miss the words “Simon says” in between and the child who follows the instruction is out of the game. The child who is the last one left gets the prize.
Let all children dance while you play the music. You have to stop the music suddenly and the kids have to freeze instantly. Anyone who moves even after the music stops is out of the game. The last child is the winner.
This is a game where children have to choose their partners and stand back to back with a big balloon in between. Without touching the ball they have to move with music and as soon as the balloon drops the pair is out of the game. The last pair wins the game.
This game is designed to engage a little older kids who can dress and undress on their own. Fill a bag or suitcase with silly items and outfits. Let a child run with the suitcase and start dressing once he reaches a spot (which is decided beforehand) and then come back and undress along with keeping the items back in the bag.
When it comes to ideas for party games, options are many. Musical chair is one such game that even adults enjoy. Then you can plan memory trey game in which you need to place few household items on the trey and let the child see the trey for few seconds and then write down the name of the items. With a little bit of creativity and planning you can develop more fun ideas.
