Pregnancy is said to be a start of an incredible journey. Although there are no fixed formulas or rules, there are certain things that you must know and some things you want to know when you are pregnant. Read on to learn about this unique journey.

Pregnancy is a time when a woman experiences joy and anxiety as well as uneasiness, all at a time. To help you get along with this journey you need experienced and knowledgeable assistance. There are some important aspects that you should keep in mind and save yourself from certain missteps that usually pregnant women take.

Nutrition during Pregnancy

One of the most important things that you can do for your baby is to eat a well balanced diet that is healthy and nutritious. Your food should include foods from all groups and that too, in right amount. Proper nutrition means that essential nutrients are provided and delivered to the body and optimum health is maintained.
Remember, good nutrition is very important for the normal growth and development of different organs of your child during pregnancy. In addition, it will help her have proper growth and development, give her the resistance to infections and diseases, enhance the ability to repair bodily damage or injury to great extent and will also help you cope with the increasing demands and maintenance of your body during pregnancy.

Certain Mistakes Pregnant Women Make

However, even with the best knowledge and honest efforts, it is possible that you might make some mistakes. So, you should also be aware of some common mistakes that pregnant women usually make so that you can save yourself from making them.

1. Eating for Two

Even though your body needs a slightly increased amount of calories, it is not that you have to eat more just because you are bearing a child. If you eat a lot, gaining weight can put yourself into many more risks.

2. Self Medication

You must be aware that most of the medicines are prohibited during pregnancy and self-medication can be harmful. So, even if you have a headache or any other health issues, consult your doctor before taking any medicine.

3. Sleep Inadequately

You are pregnant and so it is quite natural to need more sleep than before. Make sure you take adequate sleep because this will keep your body healthy and strong to go through the strains of labour and delivery.

4. Missing to Bond with Your Baby

It sounds crazy, but you can actually start your bonding with your baby right from the time your pregnancy is confirmed. Although the entire period can be tiring and exhausting, do not miss this unique experience.

5. Giving up Comfort Foods Completely

It is good to limit some food items during pregnancy, but completely restricting yourself from your favourite food can increase anxiety levels in you which will have adverse effect on the whole.

6. Antenatal Classes are Waste of Time

Antenatal or childbirth classes will give you complete information on pregnancy, childcare and help you prepare well for delivery.

Dos and Don’ts During Pregnancy

The list can be confusing and long. However, joining a forum to get advice from an expert will be the best option for you when you are pregnant. Some of the well known websites have selected questions with answers that you can go through.

Pregnancy Planning

Right from the time you decide to conceive, it is important you educate yourself and besides decorating the nursery and thinking about a name, you need a lot to do to get ready to have a healthy baby like you have to eat right, increase your intake of foods rich in folic acid, keep a watch on your weight, go for regular check-ups, reduce caffeine and stop smoking and drinking.
Since most of you must be salaried people, which mean living on a limited income, you should prepare a budget when planning for your baby. Apart from this, if you work you need to plan and apply for leave in advance so that there is no problem at the eleventh hour.
It is always good to plan your pregnancy and prepare yourself along with your partner for the addition in the family and your life. This will help you have both, shared responsibilities and happiness as well.
