Q: I recently lost about 15 pounds and I am currently trying to put on weight. I would like to know if working out, increasing my muscel size with help me look like I have more weight. I would also like to know that if I work out my buttocks area, will it make it smaller or bigger (my goal is to make it look bigger). Thank you veru much in advance.
A: If you want to build muscle, you should do heavy weights with fewer reps. If you want to lose weight, cardiovascular exercises (walking, jogging, cycling etc)will do the job. If you do light weights with more reps, you will tone but will not build muscle. If you want to gain weight on your buttocks, you will need to work out with heavier weights, and fewer repititions. Build up to heavier weights slowly, or you run the risk of injury.
Q: I was good looking before but after my kids born I put on weight and now I hate to see my face in movie or photos it looks so big now my cheeks are so full and big when I smile my eyes looks so small I don't like my face shape at all its so round shaped and my cheeks look bigger. Can u plz give me any suggestions how to look good and how could my cheeks look small, I will appreciate ur help.
A: The only way you can lose weight on your cheeks is to lose weight overall. At times, cheeks puff up due to water retention, so you may consider cutting down the amount of salt you consume. Also, exercise regularly.
Q: I am a 13 year old female, I m am very worried that i am overweight, I am 7 stone and 8 pounds, I go to the gym 4 times a week and eat healthily, Could you please tell me what the average weight is for my age?
A: Your weight is measured according to your height. So, if you are around 5 ft 5 inches, your weight should be around 55 - 60 kg. I will need your height, not your age, in order to give you an estimate.
Q: I am 16 years old and I recently lost about 10 pounds but I mostly lost weight in my breasts and maybe a little in my stomach. Is their any chace that I may still be growing? why are the results so dramatic for my breasts?I wasnt exercising just limiting the proportions of what I ate.
A: This generally means that you have a tendency to gain and lose weight on your breasts or stomach. So, if you ever put on weight, the first place that will get a little fatter will be your breasts or stomach. Similarly, when you want to lose weight, you will first lose it from these places, before you start losing weight elsewhere. Of course, if you want to target another body area, you will need to workout and exercise that part. So, if you want to lose weight on your stomach, along with diet control and general exercise, you should do stomach crunches.
Q: I want to gain wieght on my face only how should I do this?
A: There is no way to only gain weight only on your face, unless your weight gain first shows up on your face. Different people have a tendency to first gain weight in different areas. For example, some people may first gain a paunch as soon as they gain weight, others may first gain weight on their hips etc. If you want to gain weight on your face, you will have to gain weight overall, and then your face will also fill up. On the other hand, perhaps you are lucky and your face fills up as soon as you start gaining weight. You can then maintain your weight.
Q: Hi, I am 26years of age,5.6" is my height and my weight is 80 kgs. I Know I am over weight and so I am trying to reduce by controlling my diet. Please suggest if my diet is correct or not. In the breakfast I have 2-3 toasts and a cup of tea, At around 11 o'clock I have a cup of coffee, Then in my lunch I have 2-3 chappatis and little rice and salads and then I have a cup of coffee at around 4 o'clock and then around 5 I have some snacks like Idli or sandwitch or samosa or wada and then at night I have 4 wheat breads and some vegetable. Please suggest
A: Don't have chapattis and rice in the same meal. Either have chapattis, or have rice. I'd say have 2 chapattis for lunch, and 2 for dinner, but if your chapattis are very thin you can have more. Avoid having too much sugar, and 2 toasts with a cup of tea should be enough for your breakfast. How much sugar do you put in your tea or coffee? Consider cutting it down. Also, make it a point to finish your dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed at night. As soon as you start dining early, you will immediately start losing weight.
This is not a complete diet, this is just a few suggestions on how you can reduce weight based on what you eat. Don't have samosa or vadas. Avoid anything fried. Idlis are fine. Do you exercise? If you don't, you need to remember that you are consuming more than what you require, and you will only lose weight if you burn more calories than you consume. If you have a larger appetite, you should visit a dietician. The dietician will then work out a meal plan which will help you eat a lot, but eat the right combination of foods so you don't put on weight. Again, exercise!
Q: Hey I'm 15 years old and I weight only 90 pounds. My doctor says that I'm suppose to weigh at least 110 pounds so i'm clearly very underweight. What can I do to gain weight fast so that i can go from the 90 pounds I weigh now to weighing my goal weight of 110. Please help me
A: Try doing weights. Weights makes the bones stronger and heavier. Start with lighter weights and gradually work your way to heavier ones. Ideally, you should join a gym and work out under supervision if you have never done weights before. Also, start exercising, since exercise increases your appetite. Foods high in sturated fats help you gain weight, but they are not very healthy. Eat a couple of bananas everyday. Bananas help you gain weight, and are good for you. Read this article for more tips.

A: You probaby have a tendency to put on weight on your tummy and thighs. Do exercises that target these muscles. You could try the exercycle - half an hour, three to four times a week will give your legs a good workout. Also, do stomach crunches. Read this article:

A: Just controlling your diet will not necessarily help you lose weight. Rice is not necessarily fattening. Some people put on more weight with chapatis. Getting off sugar and fried foods certainly should help. Combine diet control with exercise and you will definitely lose weight. Try going for a brisk walk, 4 times a week, for 40 minutes. Make sure you walk fast and sweat it out! This will definitely help you kickstart your weight loss.

A: A combination of diet control and exercise is the best way to lose weight. As soon as you start exercising regularly, you will be surprised at how quickly you lose weight. A: Sorry but you cannot really do anything to gain weight on your face. If you gain more weight, some of it will show up on your face too. It would be better if you concentrate on keeping your skin healthy and glowing by exercising regularly, eating well and looking after your skin.

A: You're welcome! Regarding your flat behind, the problem is that everyone's body has a tendency to first put on weight in certain areas, and then in other areas. So you may want to put on weight on your behind, but if your body has a tendency to put on weight on your stomach, you will first get a paunch, and then slowly you will start putting on weight on other areas. This is naturally not the best option because you don't want to plump yourself up. You should consider building up your butt muscles or glutes by doing weights that targets these muscles. You can join a gym and explain your needs to the instructor. We will put up an article on exercises to firm and shape your butt that you can do at home, this week itself, so keep checking in. Also, make it a point to wear well-fitted jeans with back pockets. If the jeans are loose from behind, your behind will look flat. They should be well fitted, not stretch, and have back pockets. So don't just buy the first pair of jeans that are your size. Try them all out and see how your behind looks in each, before buying one.
Q: I want to ask that how much a healthy person should walk daily to reduce.
A: Walking fourty minutes, four times a week, should suffice. Walking slowly will not help much. Your heart rate has to increase for cardiovascular benefit and weight loss, so make sure you walk briskly.
Q: Hi,i was wondering what can i do to keep my body scent smelling fresher for a longer time.because when i put a perfume on, the scent does not last on me...please advise me..i really like your advise...thank you.
A: Body scent lasts longer if you use the same scented body lotion along with the perfume. So apply the body lotion on your wrists and arms, and then spray the perfume. Also, stronger perfumes last the entire day, like Escape from Calvin Klein. If you apply lighter perfumes, they tend to fade off sooner. If you apply perfume to your pulse points like on the inside of your wrists and on your elbows, the perfume will smell stronger, but if you spray perfume on your clothes, it will last longer.

A: You are not unhealthily overweight, although you could lose around ten pounds by switching to low fat foods and exercising regularly.

A: Your ideal weight is between 55 to 60 kg.

A: No, waxing does not cause skin to look flabby. You need to exercise and do light weights so that your body tones up and the flab vanishes.
Q: I am 13 years old and hardly have any hips my freinds tease me about it .help
A: First of all, realise that you are only 13 years old. As you grow older, your body will naturally fill out and your hips will expand. Most Indian women have a tendency to put on weight on their hips, so in a few years your friends will be desperately trying to slim them down while your hips will be fine. If you do want to put on weight, increase the number of chapatis you eat, and drink a glass of banana milkshake every evening. Also, dress according to your figure. Wear more of skirts instead of trousers.
Q: I just came back from overseas after a year of studies. Friends said that my cheeks have gone all chubby but my body figure stays the same. Why is that? How can I reduce fat on my cheek?
A: You probably have a tendency to put on weight on your face, and your chubby cheeks are most probably due to a change in diet. Reduce fat on your face by eating a balanced diet, more fibre, less processed foods, less junk food. Exercise regularly to tone your entire body, including your face.

A: Your ideal weight ranges between 50 to 64 kgs. The fact that you have had two children has no bearing on what your ideal weight should be, although it may be a reason for being overweight.

A: No matter how much some people seem to eat, they just don't put on weight. However, it is not how much you eat, it is what you eat. Pizza, loaded with cheese, is almost certainly going to help you gain weight. Also, exercise to help work up an apetite. Don't make the mistake of not exercising just because you are thin. Eat 2 bananas daily, a 2-egg omlette for breakfast, and eat a cheese sandwich daily. Eat a cheese pizza once a week. (Too much cheese can give you high cholesterol, so be careful). Wear tops with spagetti straps, they look great on thin people.
