kishore, you can try giving him all the foods that he likes for about 2-3 weeks, even though they may be unhealthy, and then gradually introduce healthy but tasty foods. it worked for my son.

your article says that i should not forcefeed my child, but it is easier said than done because as a parent you cannot watch your child not eat a balanced meal.

i have 2 children.the baby eats better than the elder one.however my elder one has certain foods only theat he likes and others like potato that he does'nt.moreover he cannot tolerate hot or warm food.sometimes fear or sometimes a cartoon on t.v. makes him eat ,i know that is not a good habit but les intake will cause lack of nutrition and that makes him tired and weak soon.

my daughter is 15 mths old,she eats almost everything.i have noticed that including her in our mealtimes has helped.she sits with us when we have our meals,so she also tries to eat, though she makes a big mess i try & encourage her to eat on her own.

i have a daughter of 18 months and although i have started introducing solid foods to her at 10 months she still prefers her formula. she does eat cereal and yogurt and the odd dish of pureed fruit. but she can't live on that alone. i've tried introducing cooked vegetables and finely chopped meat and potatoes and such, but all she does is pay with it and throw it on the floor. or if we're lucky enough that she will try it, she chokes and gags to get it out of her mouth. the doctor says that she seems healthy enough (because she's a chubby baby), but i feel she's still not getting any proper nutrition and the doctor has not provided me with any advice as to whether i should wean her off the bottle or how to help encourage my daughter to eat. i'm at a loss here. if any one can relate to my situation, i'd really appreciate some advice. here's my email address: tackaberry@ykn et.yk.ca

kopal,i too faced the same problem when my daughter was15 month old. she was very adumant and never sleep without breast milk.atlast i was advised by our doctor not to give her milk even she demands or cries.she will cry a day or two then she will leave. i didn't believe this first. we feel somewhat tough topractice ,but after 3 days she left it completely,as per doctor said.now she is taking whole milk.

i read the article on your website,i feel the article does inform the parent not to get into these tug_of_war situations of child not eating and mother forcing, running behind the child.i am a mother of a three year old child ,i have noticed over these years that if i maintained a time schedule for her feeds then the issue doesn't aggrevate to such an extend.when i say time schedule i mean giving the child their food in time (this has to start from breast feed to later stage).if as parent i saw to it that she got her feed/food (special attention to be taken to give food which she likes)at the correct time she has a positive attitude towards eating.

even i was facing the same problems as all you friends out there. then i consulted my child's doctor, she asked me to give him live'52. its a ayurvedic tonic, available at all chemist shops. you can give one tsp mor & eve. this will increase his appetite & it is good for their growth. it tastes also good.

i am so frustrated with the whole medical establishment. my 15mo old daughter is small, for her age, she does not walk, however she is very active, social and happy. she eats very little and is on a liquid supplement 3xper day. the gi doctor(who is indian by the way) wants to place a g-tube in her and i have overtly refused. does anyone have this problem, and i would like to learn more about this live52 ayurvedic tonic that was mentioned by one of you. thanks, ana's mom

my 14 months old daughter is a fussy eater. while feeding her my wife has to take lot of efforts. we have to keep her busy with something (like tv, toys or i dancing/making faces infront of her)to make her open her mouth for us to put something in. however, that is not the end of it. she keeps her mouth full with what we feed her for a long time and then finally spits out that was inside. this she does almost 90 % of the time. otherwise she is very active and cheerful. there is one more peculiar thing about her. she never demands for food. she simply comes to her mom and starts sucking her thumb, but when offered food she turns her face away. we have to almost always force-feed her. also, she always drinks milk with the bottle while asleep only. otherwise she won't drink milk. we are staying alone and whole day my wife has to take care of her only. sometimes my wife gets irritated/frustated and beats my daughter. but beating i mean literally slapping hard on her face, hitting with fists. she cries like hell, coughs while crying and then vomits whatever little she had eaten. then my wife hits/beats her more severely till her who face is red and she is full of tears. but this she does only in frustation. my wife later regrets that and cries too. i am in a state of dielema. the only advantage we get of that beating is that after beating when she stops crying, she quickly eats the bowl of food that was meant for her. but i think that is not the right way of doing/feeding the baby. please advise how should i/we handle this situation as we are very much troubled. please don't mistake my wife because she loves my daughter very much and does that beating only when extreemely frustated. hope you all will understand. what should i do? regards, amit

i began to wean my baby onto solids at 4 months, things were going okay until recently. she is now 6 months old and refuses to even open her mouth to taste food at mealtimes. she never seems hungry enough for food and would rather wait it out (until i give in and give her milk). anybody else have this problem or has anybody got any tips to encourage my baby to eat food?

dear all, making the little one eat may seem to be a problem to many of us because we want that our child should eat what we give them and only a few of us realize what he or she wants!! my kids eat everything may be very small quantities but i am happy about them the way they are developing is great. both of my kids may be little less in weight than the prescribed chart but still they are intelligent their mental growth is good so i am really happy and i suggest you all to think in a positive way and make meal time a happy occasion for the kids. good luck

hi my daughter is 18months old and used to be a real fussy eater. so i have now started letting her eat on her own, which i realised she loves. i make her have her meals along with the whole family and she watches us have our meals and learns from us. i guess maybe some of you could try this method to feed your fussy eaters. happy parenting.

my son is one and he looks fairly thin. i try to feed him all day long but he only takes one or two bites of what i offer him and then spits it out,so then i try him on something else.this can become very annoying and tiring for me as it seems like he doesn't eat much at all except for dinner time, then he eats a whole bowl of food. surely this cannot be enough food to keep him going. i am losing my patience with his eating habbits what can i do differently?

hi. i have a one-yr old son. after reading the articles on fussy eaters, i am relieved that i am not alone. my problem is that my son eats with a minimum of fuss at the baby-sitter's(who is a friend of mine) but it is an ordeal if i have to feed him. he refuses to eat whatever i give (the same things that he eats at her place happily). can somebody send some baby recipes to vraj_13@hotmail.com. i am running out of ideas to feed my kid.
