Do your children enjoy being outdoors? Do they spend time exploring nature? Are they conversant with basic environmental conservation issues?

I like nature but I am still afraid of bugs. The article is nice except for the part about taking children on trips. Isn't that a very expensive proposition? Most people cannot afford to go on safaris and such.

Not all people have to take their children to exotic lands on safari. Our own country is full of national parks you can travel to. If not, consider a local park. They too are full of life.

No child is naturally afraid of nature. It is parents who give their children their fears. If all parents allowed their children to explore their natural surroundings, we would not have children who shriek at the sight of a small cockroach.

I think this is a wonderful idea. Children nowadays have no outlet for their energy. If they are allowed to be outside then they will be able to burn some of it off. Besides, they will also learn something about their surroundings.

too much homework
Children are fine with homework until they start getting too much of it. It is nonsense to keep the child in school from 7 to 1 and then send him home with assignments that take another 4 hours to complete. Plus, the child has to go for so many hours of tuitions. It is simply madness. If we get tired or working after working for long hours, why would not children get bored... - Daksha [View Message]
our education system
I think our education system is to blame for the way children are harassed. The lessons are not relevant to anything that is currently happening and it is as good as a waste of time. Since most teachers are only concerned with finishing the portion, they give most of the lessons as homework. If children will not understand anything at school, how will they complete homewor... - Rohini [View Message]
homework is necessary
Homework is necessary for all children. How else are they going to learn their studies otherwise? I agree that children sometimes get a little extra but its not like that extra bit is going to kill them. If children stopped watching so much TV, I' m sure there would be no complaints about homework then. If homework is done properly by children, there is no need to go to tu... - Smritii [View Message]
Holistic Learning enhances learning 3 times
Dear Editor and all parents on this forum,

Holistic learning is the best. When information is presented to the child in a logical, meaningful and holistic way, learning is phenomenal. Unfortunately, our education system dissects and presents knowledge the way frogs and cockroaches are dissected in laboratories. This confuses the child thoroughly.
