Waterfalls
Waterfalls give spectacular and breathtaking views for the visitors but there are some waterfalls that are very steep and should be avoided visiting with elderly people and kids. To reach some of these waterfalls, visitors have to trek considerable distance which is not possible for kids. Apart from this, steep roads leading to these waterfalls or gushing water from very high altitude could be dangerous for the kids.
Meenmutthy Falls, Waynad,
Kerala is one such waterfall. Though it offers eye captivating views to the visitors, the visitors have to climb narrow steps to reach the middle level of the waterfall them one has to climb to reach the main waterfalls. Climbing to the waterfall is very dangerous as the floor is very slippery and ropes are needed for climbing. So, no question of carrying kids there.
Another dangerous yet spectacular waterfall in India that is not suitable for the kids is the Patalpani Waterfall near Mhow in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Though this waterfall offers captivating views during monsoon but flash floods occur here very often. It is very dangerous to get down to the water and water gushes down from an altitude of 150 metres. As this
waterfall has dense forest surrounding it, it is not a secured place too. Lack of public transport and food shops make it really unsuitable for taking kids.
Beaches
India is famous for its numerous
beaches and people love to spend some relaxing time on these beaches along with their families. Though visitors get lots of entertainment options on these beaches but there are few beaches in India that are not suitable at all to be visited along with kids. Chowpatty Beach in Mumbai is not at all suitable to visit especially with the kids as this beach is extremely polluted. The high level of pollution in this beach makes it unsuitable for swimming. Beaches where there is a possibility of high waves should be avoided by parents if they are travelling with their kids.
Hill Station
Hill Stations are always preferred tourist destination for individuals and families but there are few which offer endless adventure for the visitors but those who plan to visit there with kids and elderly people should give it a second thought. One such is Leh Ladakh in Jammu Kashmir State. This place offers beautiful spots and breathtaking natural beauty but there are places in Leh and Ladakh that are not suitable to be visited along with kids and elderly people. High altitude, snow covered roads, low oxygen level and unavailability of proper food make these places of Leh Ladakh unsuitable for the kids.
Khardung Leh in Ladakh is the highest motor able road in the world. It takes around 3 hours to drive to Ladakh from Leh. It is not advisable to take kids on this road as oxygen level gets lowered at this altitude. Another dangerous place is Dras which is also called Gateway to Ladakh and is located in Jammu and Kashmir State.
Phugtal Monastery in Ladakh showcases wonderful architecture that resembles with a honeycomb but it is situated on a Cliffside. Limited food options and steep climb make this place unsuitable for kids.
Haunted Places
Parents should never visit haunted places along with their kids. It may be one-of-its-kinds experience for the parents but kids may have mental trauma when they do to such places.
Lothian Cemetery near Kashmiri Gate GPO in Old Delhi is one such haunted place. Another one is the Bhangarh located in Alwar District, Rajasthan which in strictly not to be visited after sunset.
Dumas Beach in Gujarat is also avoided by many as many tourists have been reported to have disappeared from here. So, it’s a big no-no with kids especially one should avoid visiting this beach after sunset.
Crowded Places
Parents must be careful enough not to take their kids to extremely crowded places such as religious fairs. Every year Ganagasagar Fair is held in West Bengal in the month of January on the occasion of “Poush Sankranti”. Many people including elderly ones and kids are lost in this due to excessive crowd. Another such fair is the “Kumbh Mela” which should be avoided by the kids. During Shravan Month, People visit temples of Lord Shiva to pour water on the Shiva Linga. Kids should not be taken to these places too as chances of stampeded are always there in such fairs, temples on ghats on special occasions.
Apart from these above places, places where onset of epidemic has happened, crowded shopping malls, war prone areas like border areas must not be visited along with kids. When it comes to the safety of our near ones especially our children, we must avoid going to those places that have slightest chance of causing harm to our kids.
