Feeding Tips for Dads of Toddlers

Sometimes when moms are not around dads may have to take-up their role. Amongst the different parenting duties that moms do, dads may find the task of feeding most daunting. Here is what dads can do to make the task of feeding toddlers easier.
Feeding a toddler is really a very daunting task. But mothers do this with ease. This is because mothers know the tantrums and how to calm a child. Mothers are more patient than dads. Patience is very important when dealing with a child. A mother knows exactly when her child is hungry. She also knows when to give her child what kind of food so that the child eats it without complaining and without whining.
Dads on the other hand are less patient and feeding the kids are not their cup of tea, unless there is an emergency. They just want the work done anyways but with a child, this cannot work. So, in case the mom is away dads should know the feeding tips for their babies. Here are some tips given for dads on how to feed their little ones in case if the need arises.

Patience

The first and foremost thing that you need to do if you have to feed your kid is talk to her patiently. Your child may not understand in case if she is very small, but she may definitely understand your expressions. Never beat your kid during times when she is not listening to you and is irritating you. If you hit your child she will become more stubborn. So, instead of hitting try to calm her by doing the things she likes and after the kid is pacified try to feed her. It is a common nature of kids to show excuses not to eat, do not force her at that time.

Give Your Toddler Toys to Play With

All infants love to play with some toy or the other while they are being fed. A little play and fun can make the daunting task of feeding your child easier. You can give her simple toys like a ball, rattle, squeaky toys etc. But be extremely careful and make sure that she is eating her food properly in order to prevent any kind of feeding hazard. Do not give any small toys or any toys that have small parts as they may put it accidently in their mouth while eating.

Talk to Your Toddler While Feeding

It is a common nature of kids to cry over foods. They manage to find excuses every time they are asked to eat. They cry and at times become too much stubborn that even the moms have to succumb to them. The best way to divert your little one’s attention is to blabber incessantly even if your child is too small to understand.
When the attention is diverted children can be fed easily without the child even complaining. If your child is too much stubborn never force them too much or beat them. It will result in making your child more stubborn and it may sometimes cause your child to go out of your control. So take utmost care while dealing with your child from the very beginning so that it is never too late that you may have to repent afterwards.

Improve Your Bonding with Your Toddler

In order to become the best dad you should spend some quality time with your little ones. Feeding your kid makes the bonding stronger. The kids find them closer to dads if the dads can take some time out for feeding the kids. Sometimes when your child starts nagging and does not want to eat, bribe her to play her favourite game once she finishes her food. Be very careful to keep your promise and play with her the game. Once she gets interested in playing, she will be urged to finish her food quickly and your purpose will be served.
It is very important that you make the bonding with your kids stronger. The best way to make the bonding stronger is to make out some time from your busy schedule and spend time with your kids. Moms are dearer to kids because moms spend more time with kids even if they are working. Dads should also do the same in order to create a good bonding with kids.
