Meghana,
As you have already seen mixed comments, it depends on how much your spouse wants to be involved in. Unfortunately, Indian culture has not brought man that close to prenatal or even newborn care, it's pitty. I hardly remember any mens supporting wives at home when they are pregnant, mostly ladies at home take care of her needs, desires and does/don'ts. I am however sure some mens are interested to know about their littleone but can't express as much -again cultural part.

Interestingly, I have seen some fathers-to-be on IP coming with concerns or contributing to their expecting parenthood, from the bottom of heart I have appreciated their both willingness to get involved in this complicated process as well as concerns on pregnancy and their anxiety about being father in near future.

Unfortunately, they have come up with their comments, concerns directly to month club boards and I find that is better than not sharing with anyone.

I personally think it's important for a expecting father to get to know about all that's happening in womb of expecting mother. He contributes and should continue to contribute half in all regards, helping with prenatal care, labor, baby care and bringing baby finally that's all about being a nurturing father.

Your husband can come up with his concerns on this very board or go on reading material about pregnancy and developing fetus so he knows what's exactly going on with his seed. He can learn through books how to care new born and help you around later after delivery and I am certain he will be glad he did as a proud father.

I am sure your husband is going to make a good father!

Archie

Hi Meghana,
Its really so nice of your hubby who is intrested in joining the community group. My hubby is not aware that I am a part of a community group... if atall he comes to know about this then he think that I am using this community against him... i.e post bad message about him and his family. So I have not told him about this. Even after my delivery I am going to ask my sister to post a message on my behalf because I will not be allowed to go out for nearly 2 months... and my mom will never allow me to sit in front of the comp. So I will be missing from this group from the begin of november till I return back to Pune or to my work.
So do miss me during this time and hope you guys will keep the board active. Before I leave I will post my personal mail id.. so if atall we are not on this board we can still be in touch.
This message is getting very senti to me.. hence closing now...

Bye.... take care.

Hey Ammy,
Dont worry we will surely be in touch.Plus who know we all will also not be soo active in the period after delivery. But we can keep posting mails later abt childcare. But we will surely miss u :-)
Hey Vidya congratulations on your baby boy.Did you decide on the name?
Hey Archie thanks for your reply.I agree with your mail but I think fathers nowdays are getting more & more involved with pregnancy. Things are changing. Its not the same like it was in olden days. So lets hope for the best & encourage the daddy's to be. Hey btw I am curious who are you? I mean I see your replies everywhere. You seem to be an expert & everyone mails you for advice :-) So just wanted to know :-)

Luv

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
