Hai Susmitha,
Leg Cramps is common in pregnancy, this is what my gync said when i approched her with the problem. This occurs mornings as u r lying down all through the night and there is a lot of pressure on the blood vessels. U can use HOT WATER BAG,it will surely give u some relief. If the cramps are very heavy ask u'r gync if u can use crape bandage. These were the suggesions given by my gync. Drink lots of milk and have fresh fruits in the diet.Be positive.

Take care
Vatsala

Hi Sushmita,

Even the same with me i do not have the leg swelling but i do hv this leg cramps when i get up in the mornings. Infact when i get this cramps when i sleep in the afternoon also. As i hv signed up with indiaparenting.com i always receive these mails every weeks so please do check this:

Leg Cramps

Why have I begun to suffer from leg cramps

The growing pressure of the uterus on certain nerves could be responsible, as could an excessive intake of phosphorus and a shortage of calcium. Perhaps you should consider correcting your diet. Alternating periods of activity with adequate rest, and wearing support tights may help alleviate leg cramps. You may also try exercising that leg gently or standing on a cold surface.

Why do I have a shooting pain down the right side of my hip and leg

As usual, the culprit is the pressure of the enlarged uterus that has affected the sciatic nerve and caused pain in the lower back and leg. You might get relief as the baby’s position changes, or after delivery. Until then, get adequate rest and apply a heating pad. Your doctor might even recommend special exercises.

Bye and take care,
Mihika

Very good doctor
Hi,

I delived a baby boy in March 2009. I consulted Dr.Chitra Ramamurthy during my pregnancy cycle. She' s one of the best doctors in Bangalore. Not many people know about her. She handled the entire process in a very professional manner. I used to visit her clinic in Jayanagar 3rd block. She is very caring and affable. She says what to do and what not to do. ... - Sandhya Rao [View Message]

So long as your baby is feeding, that' s all that really matters. These days, formulas are packed with everything the baby needs, and although it is never as good as breast milk, it' s perfectly fine. It sounds like maybe what you are missing is the bonding that breast feeding provides? My first child had both breast and bottle milk for the first 6 months, when I had a mis... - Jhumri [View Message]
