Meghnah replied. hello mansi,
Well we hav 2 be prepared for our labour session. So its gud indeed u' ve made us prepare mentally before hand..n bcoz u raised such a wonderful topic, all mommies r giving their inputs, which is really helping us out n making us brave...
hmm I' m not at all anxious or nervous abt labour atleast as of now..I feel evrything is gona be very smoothly..I' ve lareday made up my mind that I' m gona be kool n positive abt labour process,4m now itself I' m thinking that its a easy process n baby is gona cum out soon...hmm trying 2 be very optimistic here..WELL I hope this helps....well like ramya,I 2 watched many birthing vidoes,n made myself brave...I agree initially when the baby cumes out we will feel the pain, but think of the situtation where in we' ve been waiting for whole of 9 months for this moment n just lil pains more n the baby is all ours..N I' m sure luking at our baby' s face we will surely forget all our pains,n atleast my first reaction wud be crying(ofcourse happy tears)....coz whenevr Iluk at baby birth vidoes I cry luking at the baby:-)So I know my reaction wud be crying:-)
Well I' ve heard that during ur last trimester u gottu be very active(I' ve been practcising it 4m second trimester itself)..Gottu do jadu pocha,or squatting..I' m planning 2 do all this..Breathing exercises also helps 2 reduce labor pains...WELL I' m already doing breathing exercsies...
As I' m going 2 my parents place for delivery,My hubby wont be there with me.If hesz there too, here I guess in India they dont let hubby into the labor room:-(
so 2 more days for ur U/S?gud.do share ur experience with us..
You raised a very good topic...
Before becoming pregnant..I was afraid of the labour pains...but after seeing many birthing videos..I feel that may be the pain is
not so much as we imagine..
In India parenting many of them have written birth stories...so everybody was saying that the labour pains are like severe menstrual cramps..
I think if we keep ourselves informed about the pain relief techniques, then may be we can handle the pain.
My husband is very sensitive person..so I dont know if he can be in the labour room..if he is with me..I have to worry more about him :))
So I am planning to be alone...
I am thinking of taking epidural, if it becomes worse..otherwise I am thinking of trying total natural...(donno if I can do it or not)
As shola said in India we cannot have epidural..itseems doctors dont give it to patients and only very few hospital give that.
But now a days in India 80% of deliveries are via c-section..so if we are planning to deliver in india..may be we have to be prepared for c-section..
Ok then keep us posted with your U/S experience..all the very best...
lots of luv

daisy replied. Hey! Mansi,
I think, many of us have started thining abt labour. its indeed a good topic at right time.
I have a book named ' Pregnancy-What indian women want to know' by Nutan Pandit. In that book, she has discussed some yoga exercises that will help easy delivery.
below r some options for pre-natal exercises
1> deep breathing
2> squatting (I asked my gynec abt this, but she said ' I dont want you to do squatting with such heavy weight in later stages. )
3> Pelvic bone exercise (sit down with legs stretched forward, and slowly fold ur legs in knees, touch both ur soles n get them towards you. so u form a Namaste pose by feet. hold the soles by hands. sit in this position for count of 8.)
4> daily Walking
And during the labour, she insists on walking during 2 contractions. Now, some second time mom needs to tell us , if its really possible to walk during the labour pains.
and I m sure that I m going to take epidural. :-)
about husband accompanying us to labour room. I was showing my hubby, few birthing videos on babycenter, and he was so scared to watch all that, I tease him saying ' right now, I m more worried abt u than me having labour pains.' hahaha...
but, I have decided that I ll show him more videos to make him stronger.
lets hope everything goes on fine with each one of us.

Rakhi replied. hey mansi,
it is normal to have anxiety abt labor like shola said. even i feel it at times but mostly, i try to avoid it by thinking that i will worry abt it when the time comes. ofcourse this is not a good approach bcoz we shud collect info and be prepared rather than being ignorant in this matter as we have a lot of resources nowadays!
i dont know abt anything methods to reduce the pain but i do plan on getting an epidural :)
i have heard that doing yoga, meditation etc helps but am not doing anything. a few of my frnds also took some cds of their fav songs or some fav photos etc with them to the labor room to divert their minds. dont know if it worked or not.
yes, definitely i wud want my husband to be in there with me! i have already told him this and initially he was a bit scared but now he has started watching birth/delivery videos so that he becomes a lil familiar.
i have already registered for lamaze classes and they will begin next month..i will share some helpful tips or techniques here.
so ur u/s is on 24th..just 3 more days to go..but will seem like a long time to u..best luck and do let us know ur exp.
and hey..dont feel sorry for this topic..infact it is goo dthat u started it..all of us will gain some knowledge from this.
take care

shola replied. Hi Mansi,
It is normal to be anxious. I' ve also begun to be anxious about labour. Are you based in India or abroad? The reason why I ask is that I believe in India you can' t get Epidural during delivery. If you' re abroad then you can opt for an Epidural. You have to specify this when filling your forms. I have heard a lot of good things about hypnobirthing but it' s still a new concept to me. It all depends where you are in the world. You should also do yoga classes for breathing. Are you going for your ante-natal classes where they teach you and your hubby on techniques?
By the way, good luck on the 24th. Mine is on the 23rd. Fingers crossed. When is your EDD??
love

hi shola,
lamaze class is a childbirth class where they teach u methods like breathing techniques, posture, massage, relaxation techniques etc to cope with labor. it is for both expectant mom as well as dad. they also give info abt the diff medical procedures that can be used during delivery process and also abt pain relief during labor so that when the doc tells u he/she is going to do xyz or abc during delivery, u r aware of what it is and dont panic.
take care
