HI all,
Just curious, how often should we feel the baby move in the 6th month? Can your husband feel the baby move? my husband is getting disappointed that he is not able to feel anything till now..
I get to feel the baby move twice during the day?? is that normal? Please advice!
Cheers,
Rose

Rakhi replied. hi rose,
i am 24 wks along now and feel the movements 3 or 4 times a day. sometimes less and sometimes more. my husband can feel it sometimes when he keeps his hand on my tummy. but sometimes he has to wait for a long time or sometimes he doesnt feel it at all. i think he will be able to feel it properly when they become more regular in the 3rd trimester. the other day i was at the hospital bcoz i felt less movements and they told me that u neednt worry abt it at this stage. right now its normal even if u dont feel it for a day or two.
i too read the tip that shola gave-lie down after having something-juice, water or something sweet and most probably u will feel it then.
abt difference between movements and hiccups taht somya asked, i too wud like to know that from someone.
take care

Somya replied. hi,
I am in 6th months and do feel baby movement thrice or sometimes 4 times a day, though they continue for few minutes only. I think its absolutely normal but I dont know how to identify that these movements are baby' s hiccups or just movements.... anybody know about this?

shola replied. Hi Rose,
There' s no fixed answer for this from what I' ve found out. first of all, every woman is going to feel different. It depends on how active/inactive you are, it also depends on how your placenta is placed. Then it depends on the baby too. Until week 28, movements are supposed to be inconsistent. I believe that after week 28 or so, one should feel about 10 movements in 2 hours. That' s what I read in the book \" What to expect when you' re expecting\" . In some places, the consultant will ask you to monitor the movements. Even that' s just to monitor foetal stress, just because you don' t feel too many movements doesn' t mean something is wrong. My own experience is that some days I feel movements quite a lot (even when I' m working etc) and other days I don' t. When I don' t feel movements, I take a few minutes, have a cool drink (water or something) and lie down with my hands on my belly and wait. Soon a little nudge or a kick comes, if it doesn' t I give a little nudge to my little one to say hello and then the movement comes. For my hubby it took a long time for him to feel the movement. I don' t know why, but now he has felt it but he has to be patient. Most of the times he just places his hand and then wants it to happen immediately. Which it doesn' t..sometimes. If you' re feeling movements twice a day, that' s good. My GP told me that if I feel nothing for more than 24 hours at this stage then I should call him. He said he' ll then check the heartbeat.
I' m sure there' s more movements, you just haven' t noticed it. They say that if you have something sweet, again, you could feel movements because of the sugar levels. Each woman is different though.
Every day I just wait for these movements, that' s all. They control my life at the moment, if I get loads of movements they cheer me up
otherwise I get sad.
Take care and enjoy.
