Hi all ,

Just wanted to check if you all put the baby to sleep alone .
I brought the crib when he was 15 days old and since then he sleeps int he crib. I occasionally put him to sleep with me int he afternoon..
I get a guilty feeling sometimes putting him to sleep alone at night as he is so small ..Let me know how u all are managing.

Subject:  Crib or no crib - thats the question

Hi Disha,

We bought a crib when my child was 3 months old - so she could sleep in it during the daytime. At night she slept with me. Soon though she refused to sleep in it. & the crib was primarily used for storage:) for comforters & pillows. When she was almost 2 we moved to a new house, & when we put the crib together - she jumped on it & claimed it as hers. She has been sleeping in it ever since - but the crib is in our room - adjacent to our bed, & sometimes during the night - ard 3 or 4 am - she gets into our bed. We don't have a problem with it, because i feel when she is ready she will ASK to sleep separately - just like she did the first time. However, most of my friends have used cribs since the very beginning - depends on what works for you! Personally, I think they need mother's warmth.
After all - they are young only once & if we don't pamper them now when will we?:)

Good Luck!
Brinda

It was not convenient for me to put my baby in a separate room since I was asked to breastfeed on demand. My baby was small for size and bit early. Baby never shared out bed, but was in a bassinet or crib in the same room. I put the baby in a separate room only after weaning at 9 months. Yes, there were a few sleepness nights. But baby and I got over it soon. Now as a three year old, it all seems very distant.

If I have another child, it might be a different situation based on the family need at that time.

Good luck and do not feel guilty.

My son has been sleeping in his crib and in his room since 3 months of age.Like Rashpal's household, this arrangement is working out well for everyone in our house.I find that all members get their quota of sleep.Regarding the guilt feeling,I used to feel the same way initially but it wore off.

Subject:  crib

My child has been sleeping in the crib since he was two weeks old. The crib is in his room - we found that we were disturbing each other too much when his bassinet was in our room. Every person is different, but it definitely works for all of us that he sleeps alone in his room. We feel that he sleeps much better since the move.

My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
