hi,
i am 27yrs. old.me & my husband r trying for baby since past 5 months.before starting with ocp's i was having menstruation cycle of 28 days.i was on ocp for about 10 months(march-dec.)& then soon after stopping ocp's ,i started taking folic acid as per my doctor's advice.after stopping the ocp's, for 3 months(jan-march)my menstruation cycle were 34 days apart then in the month of april it was back to normal(i.e 28 days apart),then i missed my next periods which were due on 8th may(according to 28 days cycle),then after 4days i.e on 12th may i went to my doctor for the pregnancy test but the test was negative, still i didn't got my periods till the 40th day but on the 41st day(the day i planned to go for the pregnancy test again)i got my periods.in the mean time i think i experienced some early pregnancy symptoms like vomitting tendency, frequent urination & tender & enlarged breast respectively, and i also have been experiencing some cramps during this whole period.now,my questions are:
01. did i experienced miscarriage or i am having normal periods,if yes how will i come to know that?
02.is there anything wrong with me,will i be able to concieve ever?
03.when should have i gone for my pregnancy test at the earliest if i was pregnant?
04.after stopping the ocp,how much time does it takes for the periods to be back to normal?

plz. help me i'm very depressed,i just don't know what to do,i'm desperate for baby.i hv been praying to god but still my prayers are unlistened...

Dear Rohini,

After taking off the birth control it takes a while to get periods normal in some cases. It can take 3-6 cycles. You only experienced one cycle on the schedule, this is not going to make it very safe to say your periods got normal! At least you have to have 2-3 cycles as regular as before OCP.

I would say do not think if you miscarried or a normal period, this will only add to confusion. When preg. test was negative it's suffice to say you were not pregnant. While ttc since you look at symptoms closely you can notice a mild symptoms as well, they are not necessarily pregnancy signs. Not trying to upset you, just trying to tell you that do not think that you lost one.

I would say use OPK, this will allow you to know when to plan intercourse. Then from the OPK data it will make you easy to estimate when should you expect period and indirectly to know which day you can take a hpt. It's fair to take HPT at home than at Drs. office.

YOu will definitely conceive, you are not even given sufficient time while ttc. You can count on what I said. However if you get stressed you will delay your success!
