Hi ann,
I have a 8 month old baby also, fortunately he goes toa day care during the day. He does not sleep in the afternoon also. The books I read said that is very common. Hav eyou tried putting him/her on his stomach and gently patting his/butt and putting some soft music.

If you take the time to read a book on parenting insted of wasting doctor time you would learn a few things.
1.Some children do not require sleep during the day.
2.Your child is now 8 months old and requires more stimulation and attention.
3.If she require sleep she will sleep.
4.If you cant get your housework done during the day do it at night.
5.Maybe you should try day care once and a while. Join the YMCA, they have parenting groups and baby-sitting. At least the YMCA I belong to does.
6.There are probaby some good kids in your neighbourhood who would come and assist you if need be.

If your child is happy and healthy why worry. You should be happy and a proud parent. Maybe you should use this time as quality time with your child.

You can bring your child to different parts of the house and do the house work with them. Stimulate your child a bit more. Your child is interested in what you are doing. It does not hurt to include them.

Sleep Problem due to itchy skin
My baby girl is unable to sleep properly due to skin rashes. I have resumed oil massages to help calm her down and facilitate better sleep, using CITTA Baby Massage Oil. Additionally, I am applying the ointment recommended by her doctor for the rashes. Could you please provide me with more ideas that can promote better sleep for her?... - Sanchari Tarafdar [View Message]

RE:How to Develop a Sleep Routine for your Newborn
According to me this is good but then you cannot force your child to sleep as per your wish as kids as really bad in this and they have a tendency to sleep in day and get up in late night so according to me this is not the key to success, please post if i am wrong.... - Anita [View Message]
