Kalpana Agrawal replied. Hi again,
Forgot to add - if you wish, you can add egg beating in step 7 of phase II in my recipe above. That is, if you are not pure veg!
Cheers again,
Kalpana
Kalpana Agrawal replied. The recipe I have described below takes less than 30 minutes to prepare, if you have all the ingredients ready.
Procedure: You may work on phases I and II below parallely - that will surprise all those waiting impatiently at the dining table, and marvel at your speed! :)
Phase I
1. Pluck all flowerettes from the Gobi. They will be the morsels that your guests and family members are going to gulp in their mouth!
2. In a clean cup, put corn meal and add water to it; churn to make a paste.
3. Dip each flowerette completely in the corn meal paste.
4. Fry the flowerettes till they turn brown.
5. Remove the flowerettes and spread them on clean paper that soaks all extra oil from them.
Phase II
6. In a non-stick frying pan, pour one tablespoon of sesame or peanut oil. Heat for a minute or two.
7. Put the garlic, ginger and green chillies in the oil.
8. Heat the oil till its contents begin showing a brownish hue.
9. Now, add 2 tablespoons each of Sweet & Sour sauce and Soy Sauce.
10. With the sauce added to the oil and the other ingredients, a tangy smell begins to emanate out of your kitchen, whetting the appetite of those around you even more! Continue stirring the paste being formed for another two to three minutes.
Phase III
11. Now add the flowerettes waiting on the paper to the mixture.
12. Continue stirring the concoction thus formed on low flame for another 10 minutes.
13. When you are about to say \";Hurray\";, add a pinch of Ajinamoto. Oh, if you want, you may also add salt for that added effect.
14. Now remove the manchurian and place them neatly on plates. Sprinkle coriander, cashewnuts, and garnished cheese on the spread.
15. Pierce a toothpick or two on the manchurians in each dish.
16. Present before the crowd of now very hungry people!
Enjoy! :)
Cheers,
Kalpana
