My son is 6 weeks old. Am planning to use breast pump. Do i have to ask the dr before starting to use it? Is it the same as breast feeding or is there any difference?I read that i need to store it in the fridge, then when giving it to the baby at what temperature shd i give it? Do i have to heat the milk before giving? Am planning to give him bottle once or twice in a day when i need to go out and will be away for 2 - 3 hrs. Will that cause any nipple confusion?. experienced moms pls advice asap. Thanks a lot. supriyasanoj replied. There is no need to consult a doctor for using a breast pump.just pump at regular interval.morning time is good as you will be having lot of milk at that time.it wont be same as baby sucking because when baby sucks she will draw lot of milk.
you can store the milk in strelised container for 24 to 48 hrs.for reheating you should only immerse it in the container of warm water.never boil it directly or use microwave.test temperature by dropping a few drops in the inner part of your wrist.
once stored the milk may appear curdled,remember it is not spoiled...the fats has just hardned because of the cold.just warm it and shake it thoroughly.
