Vegetarian Food:Malai Kofta gravy recipe ?

Hi ,

Can anyone tell me the recipe for Malai Kofta ? Specially the recipe of its gravy ? I really like this dish...esp the one we get in authentic Indian restaurants.

I would really apprecaite if anyone could respond to my post.

ingredients for kofta:---

medium size potatoes----7-8


corn starch


khoya --- 5-6 spoons


kishmish---- 1-2 fistful


cashews--- 1-2 fistful



oil for frying



for gravy :----




almonds----- 25-30(soaked overnite)



poppy seeds--- 1-2 fistful(soaked overnite)



onions------- 2 1/2 big


garlic -------------------- 9-10 cloves


milk---- 750ml(according to thickning of gravy)


oil to cook



salt acco. to taste


red chillies acco to taste


garam masala acco to taste


malai for garnishing


coriander for garnishing



procedure to make kofta's

boil the potatoes+ mash them+add corn starch for binding.cit cashews+add to kishmish+khoya.take some mix of potato in hand and fill inside mixture of khoya and dry fruits+make small balls and deep fry all of them.



procedure for gravy

peel the almonds and grind with poppy seeds. keep aside. in a big pan take some oil and add paste of onion and garlic+ all masalas like salt red chillies+garam masala.cook till they are brown in color. add warm milk li'l by li'land keep stiring.boil for 10 min + add almonds and poppy seeds paste.cook atleast for one hour and keep stiring. when gravy become thick enough add kofts and cook for 5 minutes. garnish with malai and green coriander.


serving--8-10 persons.
