My baby is 8 mths old. He is having cold and cough from last 7 days. He also had fever. I had taken him to doctor but when there was no effect of the medicines for three days my doc changed the medicines Now he is fine but still not eating anything .He has also lost lot of weight. Use Ajwain & Salt (make it hot & wrap it in a cloth) apply in your hand to see how hot it is and than apply to the baby with one layer of cloth at night time for 7 days this will help the baby to sleep and try to keep windows open during day time besides cleaniness inthe house. During this time it is very important to see to it that the baby stays well hydrated. SO make sure he is having atleast 4 wet diapers in a day and feed him warm formula, pedialyte, juice and water. Increase the intake of fluids as he will not be able to eat solid foods because the tummy is filled with mucus. Also, give cold medicine only at bedtime to help him sleep better and all the mucus can be drained out while he is awake. Keep the vaporizer running all day long so there is enough moisture in the house. I have a 17 month old who recovered from a bad cold recently and I learnt that once they catch a cold, all you can do is help them cope with it and just wait for it to subside!
