thankyou suma and hi ... his co. have said

\" Tax Withholding: As per Singapore Income Tax Laws (IRAS), we will withhold 15% of your salary as tax for the first 6 months from the date of joining and 7.5% thereafter. However you will effectively pay between 5 to 7% tax on completion of 180 days\"

how is this calculation .. do singapore govt. take any other tax apart from what is mentioned above? And when he will convert SGD to INR and transfer in India, do we have to pay tax?

I am asking this because it should not happen that finally we end up paying more tax and less in hand. We have booked a flat in India and our loan EMI will soon start. My salary is not much it wont ever cover the EMI so i m worried more.

We are not spend thrift. We try our best to save more.

hi

reg tax matters,u can visit irasdotgovdotsg

yes, there is 7% GST(goods and services tax) on all things u buy here. this tax is exempted only for tourists when thy buy costly items such as jewels, electronic items etc

No, there is no tax when u remit money to India. there are Indian Nationalised Banks available here in SG, and most of us use the remittance service. bear the currency exchange rate flucuation in mind.

Hi,

$6500 is a good figure. I am staying here for the past 10 years. If you want to stay here in rented HDB flat that' s 2 or 3 room flat you have to pay minimum $1200 per month as rent (if you want to come along with him then you have to consider this). If he comes alone then there is a option that he can stay as a paying guest along with some others (ofcourse they use another room). Then it costs $500+. You can contact an HDB agent he will make an arragement of the room. If he wants to cook at home, it will be cheaper... you can get fresh indian food (Indian style) only in little India, we can feel the home food taste here only. If he is non veg then no need to worry he can get food nearby his office as we can see the food courts here and there, everywhere, need to spend $25 for food everyday, as hi said TAXI is very expensive here, public transport is very safe and secure and cheaper...

Ofcourse he is not permanent resident... so he can get the whole salary every month. In that at least he can save 4500$ every month. THANK GOD that your husband have got a very good offer..

We wish him all the best

SUMA.

hi rosy,

i am living in SG for more than 10years. I think my reply will help you make a decision.

OK, the figure$6.5k seems to be good. But as you know it all depends on our lifestyle. Since you say that your hubby is coming alone to SG,
rental(HDB housing, one room rental)-$600-750
Food($25/day approximately for eating out, self cook is cheaper)
Transport(public transport- $3.50 to $5/day approximately, taxi is expensive)

any more Q' s?
