I hv a 15 mnth old son. He's had viral infections thrice since July 2005. We also tried giving homeopathy medicines to build up his resistance power. Even I have done the same thing since my baby had cold too often my mother and all suggested not to give fruits..but later i realised they get most of vit c from fruits.In veg also w ehave but when we wash and cook most of teh vitamins r lost.so u can start with apple juice in little quantities.SInce my baby is pure veg. I really was very concerned to make his diet as healthy as possible.BUt i have started giving him egg..u can mix all veg boiled n mashed in his diet which he already takes.Yeah Reg the biscuit the paed advised me not to give biscuit till hes 2 yrs old.It may be reg the preservatives n agents they r mixing.U can start him slowly one by one.DOnt force him.u can try some 8 to 15times to a baby any food before stopping it.So keep trying.Good luck. smitha replied. To improve his haemoglobin levels increase his iron intake.Modify the diet to include more iron-rich foods like red and white meat, fish, clams, oysters, dark green leafy vegetables, whole grains, beans, and iron-fortified breads and cereals.
2)Avoid giving cow’s milk for infants up to 12 months of age.Cows milk has low iron.U didnt mention ur babys age. Include iron-fortified formula or cereal for children over six months of age.
3)Increasing intake of vitamin C can help boost the absorption of iron.

Vitamin C helps your body to absorb more of the iron you eat. Vitamin C rich foods include 100% fruit juices, oranges, grapefruit, dried cranberries, strawberries, kiwis, tomatoes, asparagus, broccoli, red and green peppers, potatoes, spinach and squash.
Adding heme iron (meats, poultry, and fish) to a meal will also increase your body’s ability to absorb the non-heme iron in foods.
chappati’ / ‘roti’ served with ‘dal palak’; chicken, fish‘curry’ served with rice, ‘sabji’ and a fresh fruit.
And regarding viral infections we cant protect them completely.But we can take some precautions by avoinding going to very crowded places or gatherings.use a disinfectant at ur home if someone has fallen sick so that the virus doesnt spread.use ur hands quite often while feeding the baby and after nappy change and before preparing his food.ask anyone to wash their hands and feet before picking up ur baby.
