Crying & Colic:Baby not playful at 9 months
2008-03-13
Name: Cry baby at 9 months

My son who is now 9 months old, does not play on his own for more than 5 minutes at a time. he does not crawl as yet but does move a lot on his tummy, to reach out to things, but no toy of his can hold his attention for more than 5 minutes and then he again starts looking for some human presence to either lift him or put him in our lap. Is it so with babies at 9 months and will he ever get independent and play by himself. Pls advise

hiya dear
i dont think there is anything to worry. try to sit with him n play n then slowly slowly he will get use to of playing himself. my son also has recently may be a month ago start playing himself otherwise he always need me around as u can imagine i am with him 24/7.try to give your son empty small boxes which r made up of cardborad (but keep an eye so that he dont put them in mouth) like egg box, toilet roll tube etc, kids r more interested in other things then there toys. My son has a room full of toys but he loves to play with empty boxes or his shoes r his fav.give him plastic spoon n bowl to play he will love that, bang bowl with spoon. hope this is any help.
