Hello,

I now a bit confused about the relationship between women and men in the office.
There is a guy at my workplace who seems to always be joking with everyone and teasing
all the girls including myself and we joke around with him. Last week we had a meeting in the
office and I did not realize that maybe he was stressed out or something but when I said something
to him jokingly, he got angry and said to stop teasing him. Later on, he tried to take something from my desk and he said
that I must now be upset even though I did not show it. I was very upset/hurt/angry that he would lose his temper so easily.
I am not sure why this happened. Are women more sensitive than men? Or should there not be too much teasing between males and
females? I am also not sure how to react to him now, I do not feel like joking with him again. Maybe I had said something to him
previously as a joke which might have hurt him and he was getting back at me?
Maybe we should just keep our distance?

Thanks. DT replied. The answer to your question is yes. It is in your best interest to maintain professional working relations with him or with any of your peers for that matter. Always keep your personal life seperate from your working. That way you can be able to avoid such situations altogether, quite often such harmless, innocent joking turns into something more harmful--professionally as well as personally!!
