The School has a responsibility to provide a safe environment for your child and the Manager is responsible for health and safety matters concerning the nursery premises. All staff are aware of potential hazards within the nursery and the surrounding environment and actively protect children from hazards. We aim to provide all staff with first aid training. All accidents and any incidents are recorded in the Accident Report Book. All accidents are accurately notified to the parent/carer as soon as possible. Hygiene rules relating to bodily fluids are followed with particular care and all staff are aware of how infections can be transmitted.

shyammy replied. Any adult at risk of abuse, exploitation or neglect should be able to access support to enable them to live a life free from violence and abuse. Agencies and organisations will work co-operatively in the identification, investigation, treatment and prevention of abuse of vulnerable adults. As a carer it is part of my role to identify risk and manager risk. I must attend training and be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse. In the event of a suspicion or allegation that a vulnerable adult is at risk of abuse, exploitation or neglect I must be aware of the correct procedures to follow and how to record and report it.
ram replied. Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
These regulations require employers to provide:
adequate and appropriate first-aid equipment and facilities
an adequate number of qualified first aiders
an ' appointed person' , if a first aider is absent, to take charge of first-aid arrangements, including looking after the equipment and calling the emergency services.
vinni replied. Smoking is not allowed on or around the premises at any time.
Staff are not permitted to smoke in their nursery uniform or whilst wearing their ID badge and are reminded of the need to consider the close contact of children in their care.
uma replied. Know the H&S organisation and arrangements to be adopted in their own working areas and ensure that they are applied
Observe standards of dress consistent with safety and hygiene
Exercise good standards of housekeeping and cleanliness
daina replied. The risk assessment will identify aspects of the environment that need to be checked on a regular basis. A record will be maintained of these particular aspects and when and by whom they have been checked. Nursery staff will determine the regularity of these checks according to their assessment of the significance of individual risk
tanna replied. Ensuring that the Council and Nursery specific H&S policies are implemented and monitored
Ensuring all relevant H&S information is displayed clearly and distributed appropriately
Ensuring the staff, volunteers, students etc. have completed a full induction
Day to day responsibility for health, safety and welfare of all those using or visiting the premises
rajani replied. The nursery has an Equal Opportunities Policy, which states that no potential or actual nursery user, whether child or adult, will receive less favourable treatment on the grounds of ethnic origin, colour, gender, disability, marital status or sexual orientation.
maharaj replied. If a child becomes ill whilst they are at nursery, we will take every possible step to contact the parents immediately and take responsible measures to care for the child until the parent arrives to take them home. We will expect parents to cooperate with us by not bringing children to the nursery if they are unwell and unable to cope with the busy nursery day, or if they have an infectious or contagious illness. Parents are required to contact the nursery if their child is too ill to attend. Staff will also be asked not to attend work under the same circumstances.
lina f h replied. A first aid box is always available which is stocked according to official requirements. There is a first aid box located in the Discoverers’ room and in the kitchen. It is the responsibility of the workplace first aider to regularly check the contents and order new stock if necessary. A first aid bag is also taken on nursery outings along with any emergency medication and action plans.
homa replied. In the event of an incident, the accident book must be completed and the manager must investigate to see what went wrong, why and how it could have been avoided. Any lessons learned should be shared with all the staff.
moni replied. All new staff should have the nursery' s health and safety procedures clearly explained to them as part of the induction process and be given the written health and safety policies in their induction pack. This will include details of the nursery' s hygiene regime.
rajib replied. Early years settings must follow common sense as well as the law on safety matters, says Mary Evans
Accidents can occur even in the best-run nurseries, but with an effective health and safety policy, backed up by a thorough staff training programme, the risks of serious illness or injury can be greatly reduced.
If nursery staff are ever tempted to complain about the restrictive bureaucracy of the house rules covering health and safety, they should remember that the laws were introduced to ensure that employers protected their workers.
mani replied. There are regulations on what size premises should be and of course they need to meet various hygiene and cleanliness standards. The premises should be at least 3.5m square per child under the age of two, at least 2.5m square per child aged two or at least 2.3m square per child aged three to seven.
Parents need to drop their children off so will there be enough car parking - you may need to liaise with your local council to see if you need any permissions. You obviously need toys and educational aids and places for toddlers and babies to go and you may also need a moses basket if you have very young babies and children in your care.
ladoo replied. To meet health and safety requirements for your child care business you have a legal obligation to undertake a health and safety risk assessment set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage under the welfare requirement. The welfare requirement sets out provisions for safeguarding and promoting child welfare, finding and recruiting suitable people and finding and managing suitable premises and equipment and providing the right environment.
vina replied. At no time during disciplining your child would staff use physical punishment, e.g. smacking, shaking or slapping and it is our belief that using negative words like “no†and “naughty†are unhelpful and leave no room for movement.
If a child presents at any time with unacceptable behaviour, staff will approach the situation in the following way:
(a) intervene at the time of conflict in order to establish the cause of upset
(b) talk to the children involved to gauge their feelings and reactions to the situation

korbi replied. Parents are required to report to the nursery/Key Person any accident that their child may have had from home. This is to ensure that staff at the nursery may keep an eye on the child. This is important especially accidents, where a child may have hit his head. Parents would then be asked to give a brief written report which they would be asked to sign. A verbal report could be given if parents are running late. This would be recorded by the staff and parents asked to sign when child is picked up.
gautam replied. When a complaint is received, the Manager or Officer in charge will gain as much information as possible on the nature of the concern. With the relevant information, the Manager or Officer in charge will attempt to resolve the problem with the person either verbally or in writing. All complaints will be treated seriously and always recorded in the appropriate file. However minor they may seem all complaints will be investigated and the result will be confirmed with the complainant.
mohan replied. Schools are powerful places to shape the health, education and well-being of our children. That is why the Alliance’s Healthy Schools Program supports more than 15,000 schools across the U.S. in their efforts to create environments where physical activity and healthy eating are accessible and encouraged.

Toddlers are at a crucial stage of learning, where foundational skills for life are being developed. At Skillmatics, we believe toddlers should be learning cognitive abilities like problem-solving, memory building, and recognition of shapes, colors, and patterns. Language development, motor skills, and social-emotional growth are equally important during these years. ... - Fabien [View Message]
