Hair Care:Scarf with velcrow

Name: Jalaja I am 35 year old and a company executive in Chennai with about 20 people reporting to me. Our family has a long-standing vow of family tonsure in Tirupati this November. My f-i-l, m-i-l, my husband' s elder brother, his wife (housewife), their two teenage sons, my husband, myself and my two daughters and a son - six males and five females in all - will be tonsuring. I am eagerly looking forward to this first ever mottai of my married life.

I was last tonsured when I entered BE and maintained a boycut for a year after that. At that time I happily moved around with my bald head exposed.

But now I feel my male colleagues will be embarrassed if I chair a meeting with my bald head. I intend to wear nice scarfs in the office meetings. I am looking for scarfs which can be worn in a jiffy starting at the top of the forehead, running behind the ears and with a velcro fastening at the base of the nape.

Can any female who has bought such scarfs tell me where they are available? I am getting only ordinary square scarfs which have to be tied below the jaw which I do not like.

My intention is to wear the scarf only when required but remove it and keep it in my vanity bag at other times.

Dear Gayathri
Sorry for not answering immediately. My co-sister (my husband´ s elder brother´ s wife and the cementing force in our joint family) talked me out of the scarf thing. So I decided to go to office with bald head exposed.

The family mottai on Nov 17th was one of the best experiences in my life and all the 11 of us were very happy after that. My parents-in-law had resisted the family mottai idea of my co-sister all along. But now they have thanked her and ruled that once in five or six years we should have this. I am so happy to hear it.

In the two weeks since the mottai I have one of the best experiences. Everyone in my office smiled broadly looking at my bare bald head. On the advice of my co-sister I never took it as an embarrassment rather an encouraging sign. So the meetings were never a problem beyond the first day. Now my colleagues are accustomed to my stubbly head. I am really enjoying the whole thing.

A couple of colleagues seriously commented that I look very beautiful with short hair also. Why not a boy cut instead of a braid? When I reported this at house, my co-sister said that I could do so for a year if I so desired. My husband started pestering me to agree for boycut for a year. So it is decided that starting March, I will have a monthly boycut till next November when I will have a repeat mottai. After that I will not cut it till our next family mottai maybe in 2017.

My two daughters will have regular weekly barbershop headshave for two months in summer. It may make the hair clean and dense and the scalp healthier with exposure to sunlight. Then they will grow hair till next family mottai.

Being a women i understand how difficult it must be for you as i have face this problem in past but i have realize 1 thing no1 cares in 21st century, people are least bothered as they are busy with themselves... so all the best and just chill.!!! tc

Being bald is in trend now so i would suggest don't hesitate o feel awkward... don't go for Velcro scarf they doesn't look that great instead try square 1s they look smarter.. ur friend

I do not understand what you mean by interesting topic. Nothing much interesting about us getting family mottai. Many families do that once in a while. It would be interesting for a specific family you know of, which is not the case here.

You say you are male. So what?

You say that you will do yearly twice. What is it that you do yearly twice I do not understand.

´ Hope you understand´ I do not know what you want me to understand.

I wanted to know about the availability of a specific type of scarf with velcro. If you cant say anything on that why do you simply beat around the bush?

Nice to see your response. I am not sure whether a scarf with velcro will be available in Tirumala hills. Ordinary square scarfs only will be available. Anyway I will try. As a last resort I will have to keep it tying and untying.

Anyway, my boss said that I need not worry as I could attend meetings or even conduct my own group meetings with bare bald head. " If Shabana could receive her award from President with a bald head and Uma Bharti conduct Govt meetings as CM with bald head what is the big deal in you moving around bald?" he said encouragingly. I am thankful for his kind words. I am take his words to action also. Only as a last resort I should have at least one scarf in my kitty.

Our family mottai is tentatively scheduled for 17th November. I will write after the mottai exp.

By the by, dear Gayathri, did you ever get a gundu at Tpt?
