You are right i have to wait till I miss my periods, this waiting is very difficult. I already have a son(3yrs) but then it had happened unplanned so did not have to wait for anything.

Anyway what i want to know is how are the weeks of pregnancy calculated. We say we are 8 weeks pregnant or so on, so when do we start calculating,is it from the first day of the LMP that we start calculating the weeks or what ?????

Subject:  Two methods to calculate EDD

Hi Mama,
There are mainly two methods, one is based on LMP and while other is gestational age estimation based on Ultrasound. The second method is more reliable and powerful.
LMP Method:
Add one week and one year to your LMP and go back three months to get your EDD.
For example:
Last Menstrual Period on September 25th 3003,
Addition of one week (7 days) will give October 1st 2003.
Add a year, that means, October 1st 2004.
Substract three months from this to obtain your EDD, which is July 1st 2004.

Second method is by Ultrasound, that will calculate age on the proprotion of size of fetus and developments of the same.

Hope I could answer your query.

It's not necessary that first baby is difficult while later ones are easy. It's common to find people hitting baby land without trouble while first time, where as have to wait for second one.

Have you had preconceiption check up made? This will allow you to repleinish nutrients in your body, for some reason if that's delaying.

Hope you will have success in this cycle.

Archie
