Hi Hetal,

I just had a doctor's appointment today and eager to share my experience.

I am 24 weeks along and weigh 128.8 pounds today. Pre-pregnancy,I was around 109. Since last month, I have gained only 1 pound. Infact, it was very fluctuating last month, one week I increased by 2 lbs and dropped 3 next week, etc.,I asked the doctor as I was worried and she said that I was already over limit! So, basically I have put-on all my weight in my first trimester. I guess, it depends on our body's metabolism. I don't think I answered your question but agree with other's opinion that there is no perfect weight gain. As long we have healthy babies and are not too over-weight/under-weight, I wouldn't be worried. So, I guess you should not be too.

Here is where all the 29 pounds of weight gain goes:

Blood: 3 pounds
Breasts: 2 pounds
Womb: 2 pounds
Baby: 7.5 pounds
Placenta: 1.5 pounds
Amniotic fluid: 2 pounds
Fat: 7 pounds
Retained water: 4 pounds

Eat healthy,
Vindhya

Hi Hetal,

As vandana said there isn't any perfect weight gain for everyone it is different with every pregnant girl. So don't worry if ur doctors said that it's ok.

I'm in my last month now & my due date is sept 3rd. But i didn't gain much weight in first 6 months & nobody can tell that i'm pregnant but now in my third trimester i'm gaining 2kg in every 15 days. My doctor said it's normal coz some women gain weight early & some late in pregnancy.

BTW from ur last mails i came to know that u live in canada. it's really gr8 to know. i also live in Calgary, Canada. Where do u live ?

I think u also have that book \";From here through maternity\"; which they gave us in the beginning of pregnancy in that book there is something written 'bout weight gain. In case u don't have that book i tell u the average weight gain in pregnancy.

If your weight before pregnancy was healthy.......11 to 16 kg (25 to 35 lb)

If u were underweight before pregnancy...13 to 18 kg (28 to 40 lb)

IF u were overweight before pregnancy...7 to 11.5 kg (15 to 25 lb)

If u are carrying twins..16 to 20.5 kg (35 to 45 lb)

I hope this helps..

take care
bbye
khushi

Hi Hetal

How are you doing? My EDD is Nov 22. well, first of all I feel that that there is no such thing as a \";perfect\"; weight gain in pregnancy. Every woman's weight gain is completely different and individual. The norm is 2-3 lbs in 1st trimester and about 3/4 lb per week in 2nd and 3rd trimester. But I can tell you from my personal experience, there are no standards and it certainly does not help to compare with others! :) So, as long as you are eating healthy and your doctor is not concerned about your weight, you have no reason to worry.

Hope this helps, take care
Vandana.

You might already be knowing this but, here is some more info from the book (What to expect when you are expecting) :

If you were underweight before preg, then ideal weight gain is about 40 lbs through out the preg.

If you were ideal weight before preg, then ideal weight gain is about 25 lbs through out the preg.

If you were over weight before preg, then ideal weight gain is about 15 lbs through out the preg.

If you have already gained the ideal weight then you do not have to worry.
The weight gain varies from person to person, as Vindhya said.

I have put no weight until 4th month because of morning sickness and in the past two months I have been putting about 1 lb per week.. my over all weight gain has been about 10 lb.. that is about 5 KGs or Less.

Take Care
Rama

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
