just 1 logical explanation ghee gets ingested and metabolised and comes out through one end ...and the extra stuff gets attaches to our body ...right ..and baby comes out though another place right ...so now tell me how it will benefit in child birth???

Hi Vidhi,

In my first pregnancy, I did follow these advises and had ghee, sewian etc during my last month. My delievery was easy but I believe that it was not because of the extra ghee I took. I think all it did was add extra pounds on my body..so this time I am not overdoing it..just eating regulary and with normal amt of ghee..

Wish u a safe and easy delievery

Vidhi,

How are you and your baby??? Am good and my girlie is active, not scaring me much... hehehe...

Coming to your topic, I don' t disagree, but I am not one of the girls who would do it... Have always been overweight... And have put on 54lbs in this pregnancy already... I cannot afford to do anything like this... When we mae chappati, we add little ghee that' s all... Coz if you put on more weight, the delivery could be difficult... Am worried about it already, so ghee, butter etc etc are big NO NO for me...

Take care Vidhi and all others...

Hi Vidhi,
i understand what u must be going thru ..... i have the same problem, every other woman i meet, in the lsit, under the building, neighbour, frnd' s mom, maid and servants, chachi, fupi, mami, dadi, mausi, etc .... they tell me to have ghee in milk so that the baby will slip down .... i don' t agree with this at all. I also asked my gynaec and it just makes her laugh. these ladies tell me that vernix that is on the baby' s body when delivered is actually ghee that we had during last days and thus it helped th baby to slip out, when i told this to my dr. she started giggling and commented \" thank god, they don' t take it on finger from baby' s skin and taste and say ..... wah! Aslee ghee\" ... lols.
but now the problem is, i am already in 39th week and as per the books i have read for hte first time pregnancies baby' s head shud engage atleast two to four weeks before the due date. in my case that has not yet happened due to which my dr. is saying i have 50-50 chance of natural and c-section delivery. So i htink no harm is trying those old nuskhas of ghee and milk to help baby side down ... anyways, both the foods are good for health (minus the calories) anywhich ways. One spoon of ghee a day in last few days shud not put on much calories, compensate with enuf walking.
As far as castor oil is concerned, that shud be jsut take once after u get contractions and u are prpared to go to hospital for the delivery .... just so that u don' t mess around during pushing.

hi vidhi,

well, even my mom says i should take little ghee/butter with every meal as its good for delivery... seriouly, i dont believe in all this but i do as she says just to keep her heart n avoid arguments.. after all no harm in taking 1 spoon ghee with my dals.!
moreover i havnt put on much weight so i can effort to take ghee now..
So i feel if its doing no harm to ur health why not take it n make our elders happy:-)

My mil used to tell me this last time and even made me drink ghee with milk. Of course it doesn´ t make any sense to me and i just drank it coz its better than arguing with mil. THis time, thank god, my mom is around and she isn´ t telling me any such ridiculous thing. And even if she does, i can just plain refuse.
