Nurseries and Schools:Right age to send a child to playgroup

My child is 1 year 10 months. I want to send him to a playgroup, but my husband wants me to send him to nursery at 21/2 years. He says let him be at home now, he's too small. I feel that if he goes now he will be able to adjust. Cos I have a nursery & playgroup below my house & we see that children crying so much there, when they are left there by their parents. The teachers also let them sit in one corner & cry. So my husband doesn't want the same to happen to our child. Is he right? He feels we should enjoy himself cos then after this age he is going to be busy studying. Please help me out on this one. Also he is not yet speaking too much . He says words not sentences. So my husband feels that if someone is not treating him properly in the playgroup he won't be able to tell us. So what shold I do? Sometimes I feel that my husband is right, but I want to do whats right & good for my son.

Hii Riketa,
My daughter is 1 yr. 3 months old. I had thoght about a mother toddler grp so that she gets adjusted to the school with me accompaning her. Actually mother toddler offer admission at 6 months of age. But I was too resistent to take such a small baby to school. We started mother toddler at the age of 1 yr. Believe me she enjoys there so much that now repent for the 6 months that we lost. Infact all the kids enjoy very much at the mother toddler and infact also in a good play school. I feel its necessary for them to interact with other kids of their age. The play school you are talking about is really a horrible example. But all the play schools are not the same. Good play schoold does exist and I'm sure you'll be able to find one. If you are still unsure, you can join a play school where they will allow you also to accompanyy your child for a week or so. Then if you feel that the child is not enjoying, you can discontinue. But in my opinion you are taking away the pleasure of playing with the kids of your child's age and the wonderful prechool experience from your child. Pls. join a good play school at the earliest. I'm sure your child will enjoy. All the best.
