Due Date Club February 2006:Archie/others-doubt about EDD

Hi Archie/Others,
I saw in the december forum that some girls have delivered about 1 month in advance! I would like to know if this is only because of wrong calculation of EDDs and not a common happenning. I mean we calculate EDD based on the LMP, which is a very approximate one and the exact day of conception will always be a few days/weeks after that. So the actual delivery date shouldn't be so much preponed if not on the exact EDD. Right? Pls enlighten me on why this happens. Am very much confused.
As for me I've been told that my EDD is Feb 25. After my mid-trimester scan also it has not changed. So what are the chances that I'll deliver very early or exactly on time or +- 1 week of my EDD etc??

Priya,
EDD is an idea not an absolute measure when one must deliver. Only 5-8% preggies deliver on EDD.

Delivery 2 weeks before or later EDD is perfectly normal.

However once 36 weeks are completed then delivery even a 4 weeks before EDD is not a problem as baby is matured.

Early or delayed labor is not due to incorrect EDD calculations.

Although first EDD is on LMP basis the real EDD should be considered on latest ultrasound, which considers the growth of little one.

Have I cleared your doubt.
