Hi,

I have a 17mnth old and for the last 5 days she has been gassy and looks like she has stomach ache. Every now and then she touches her tummy or pulls it in and cries. I've been to the doctor almost everyday and they are not sure what to do. One day she has diarrhea, the next day she has fever, but the gas and stomach ache doesn't seem to go. Y'day the doctor took an x-ray of her stomach and said its just gas inside.

I've been giving her Mylicon gas drops and Gripe water, but she is still not relieved of gas. She has lost her appetite. I'm barely keeping her hydrated with water and milk.

Please any suggestions, some home made remedy. I try to give her Pepper rasam everyday but she doesn't take much and there's not much improvement.

Js newmom replied. hi..i have only 1 month old baby..and he has the sam e gas problem..initially i was giving him gripe water but it doesnot make any differnce so i tried \";hing\"; take a pinch of hing in a warm water and the apply it on baby's stomach..he/she will pass the gas soon and feel better..
try this if it works for u..also try one medicine called \";colicaid\";...

What can really help is if you can make her lie on her back. 1) Once she lies down, gently massage her belly about an inch or two below the belly button. Use circular motions. 2) You can also hold onto her feet and do the cycling action. 3) Hold feet together, bend the knees and bring toward her chest. Please do all this gently. It can give a lot of relief.

As for home remedies, boil some ajwain ('omum' in tamil) in water, cool and give it to baby. It really works.

To prevent too much gas, try to add little jeera or pinch of ginger anytime you give lot of dhal. Use green gram instead of tuvar to reduce gas.

Check if she has an intolerance to milk.

dont worry stop her dal n milk intake for few days.give her soups of veggies and add garlic in it.very watery one.soups to relieve gas.add watery khicadi n add ajwain( carom seeds) while making it.put it small quantity.

give saunf & ajwain water to her(fennel seeds n carom seeds) boil water by putting it cool n give her. she will get relieve in few days.give more fruits these days.no apple ,bananas.give citrus fruits.
