Waiting to try:Ovulation

Name: Trisha

My cycles are 34 days long.We want to start trying for a baby.We are starting to have sex everyday from day 18 in order to conecieve as I ovulate roughly around day 20.But I dont see any mucus in my vagina since day 17.Does that mean i am not ovulating? Do women ovulate even there is no mucus in vagina?

I didn't have any mucus during my ovulation. But as I passed fertile period, I noticed mucus started growing. Now I am 2 days short for my period. Please tell me what I should make of this? Am I ovulating now? Or I was taking lot of vitamic C juices during my ovulaton. You think that caused mucus to disappear during ovulation?

Trisha,

Sorry to have delayed. You can start with a new message, gets my attention easily.

Don't worry too much. Without OPK it's difficult to tell. You already mentioned troubles with Mucus, and it's true that you can't have 3-4 cycles without ovulation in a row.

Wait for two days and if period does not show then start testing with Frist Morning Urine.

Acidic environment is an enemy of sperms. Next time onward try not to drink Vitamin C juices or berries while around ovulation.

Good luck

You have any idea about how long will it take to get back to normal after we stop the pill? My periods became kind of regular as soon as I stopped the pill.First month it was 35 but since then 34 days.

Dear Trisha,

Two things, getting period to normal and internal hormonal balance are different. Some hormones are essential for menses while others for physiology and conceiving baby.
To get on normal period it usually takes about 2-3 cycles.
To get absolutely normal with whole physiology it can take as long as 3-6 cycles.

If your husband has good sperm count and your periods are regular then go ahead and try to conceive. If you plan intercourse close to ovulation (use of OPK strongly recommended to figure this) chances can be so high, don't worry much on the aspect of you being not producing a lot of CM, this can not affect conceiving 100% although CM will help swim his sperms better.

Good luck

I have PCOS. Do you think this has anything to do with that?

Hi Trisha,

Now situations are getting little clear why you don't have CM. It's all because of your pill. But this should not stay for long. It will go away and you will be normal.

Use OPK and find if you ovulate.
Good luck

I have PCOS since a year.I used pill for 6 months and I am off the pill since 3 months. Before I used the pill, though my periods were irregular, I used to notice mucus. But since I stopped the pill, there are no signs of ovulation t all. What should I do now?

Hi Trisha,
Yes, PCOS has little to do with this. If you have PCOS from long time then don't consider being dry in last three months is due to PCOS per se.
PCOS can pose some difficulty (takes a little time in some cases) while ttc, just telling, not meant to scare you. It does not however makes it absolutely difficult to conceive.

This makes me to suggest you once again to stick to OPK.
Good luck.

Hi Trisha,

You can begin intercourse from CD18 if your cycles are very regular. Disregard CM in this case, it's individual aspect. It would be of great help to have your orgasm combined with his ejaculation or your orgasm just before he ejaculates semen.

Use of Ovulation Prediction Kits will be of great help, start testing between noon to 3 pm from CD17.

Good luck while ttc.

Hi Trisha,
True that CM makes it easy to distinguish ovulation from non-ovulating days. But I would be surprised that consequently in three cycle one do not ovulate, if you consider being dry is a sign of not ovulating!
Having regular periods and not ovulating is likely but approximately one cycle a year, not three in series.

I would imagine you are ovulating, just that your vaginal environment is getting dry. Lets, assume that you are normal and don't stress a lot. Use Ovulation Prediction Kit, this will definitely answer your query. You can also measure your basal body temperature that will pinpoint. Using a single method it's always difficult to confirm ovulation, except OPKs.

Go ahead and try to conceive. Combine your orgams as suggested see what happens.

Good luck

Thanks Archie for your reply. While I was not trying I still used to observe the mucus. It used to grow slowly and reach its peak at one point and used to decrease from then.I thought I ovulated when it was peak. But now since 3 months I dont see mucus at all in my vagina.Do you think I am still ovulating?
