Well, I was just reading all of ur msgs from everyone in the US. I just was thinking about how different it is out here in India. There's is not glucose test. There is no compulsion of car seats. I guess thats as far as the differnces go. THe problems we all face (with our bodies) are generally the same. Another diff is that we don't make that many visits to the doctor atleast till the 8th month from what I'm told. Makes me wonder if we're taking enough care of our pregnancy. But then people around here say that there are ladies in the villages who don't make a single visit to the doctor throughout their pregancy (or rather pregnancies!!!). We're here in the army set-up, and fromm what I have experienced the gynaecologists take all sorts of precautions but they are still not as much as what they do in the US.
Just a few of my thoughts! Anyways, I hope everything turns out great for everyone!!
Thats life!!

Im from the dec board and was just reading your message.
I guess it mainly depends on how your doctor handles it..
The doctor I am going to has done all the tests that are spoken about in the board that are done in the US.
Also I have had regular Sonographies inspite of my pregnancy being a very normal one.
The glucose test was done twice (since my dad is a diabetic) and have come out okay.
The sonographies were done once to see the sac in my 6th week, once after the 12 th week adn once in 20th week a detailed one.
The one test they did not think was necessary for me was the amino (im 26 yrs and its usually done for 30+ ).
Also here I have found the doctor to be very accesible whereas in the US you need to schedule an appointment in advance.
Also I have been having checkups every 4 weeks. In the last trimester it would be every 2 weeks.
Im in Bangalore I heard the same from my friends in other metros.
Take care,
Jyoti
Simmi replied. hi deep. well seeing everyone add their comments, i thought i would reassure u that not visiting doctor often does not mean u r not doing well enough. u r doing brilliant by eating and resting and relaxing. Knowing too much is no good. We have midwives who take care of appointments and deliveries, though I avoided seeing one in early stages as my doc is brilliant. The midwives deal with so many pregnanies and the final delivery time, any midwife could be there, no personal touch like the doctors in India and US. So not a gr8 thought and though there are monthly visits till 32 weeks and then twice a mth, the main checkup is only for any urine infection and blood pressure. They don't weigh us here nor do they do more than one ultrasound, unless needed in complicated cases. So though loads of visits, they r hardly that reassuring and even in my case, my mum's advice is more assuring than doc visit! So there is much more to enjoy in our desi land too. All the best.

I am in US and I feel there is too much of medical intervention which is good as well as not-so-good sometimes.. It is difficult for me to relax and enjoy preg..
on top of it, I am web-savvy person where I can get information about almost everything..(which I cannot resist reading..)
Anyways, I agree with the person who said that we have lots of elders in India who try to put away our fears.. Here in US/or foreign place we have to find our own way of finding solace..

u r right that in india. No one is doing any test in normal situation if any one has a problem that they can do to but the most important think is that in india so many experiance person is around us so v donot hv to worry to much because they will tell them experiance and that will help us here if some one know than also no one give a advice that`s why v need a Dr. visit more here as compare to india
i am in canada here also v hv to go every month visit but some time i feel that my mummy advice is more effective than Dr.
ok take care

Rekha replied. Hi Deep,
I am singapore and find that singapore and US are almost the same with doctors showing concerns about the weight, Glucose Test and other stuff.
Here we have monthly visit to the doctor till 7th month i thnk and then its every 15days.
i am in my 26th week now and my doc has done 3 U/S for me till now. Plus one additional one which i requested/pleaded her to do.She did the last one on week 20 and will be doin one more in my next visit at week 28.The other one will be at week 32 if required.
i think its just a matter of practice and as far as all goes well its all fine.
you take care then and enjoy your time..

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.
