How do you make your child adjust to the new routine? amelia replied. adjusting to a new routine can be disruptive for preschoolers or kids in general. it can be traumatic for kids. Kids can need some time and special attention during the transition. Discussing with the kid is the best possible way out as he will be well aware of the changes he is going to face. As a parent, you should not introduce the changes at one go but gradually it should be done. A child will be able to adjust if he is given time and this time differs in different kids. I would first assess the challenges and then think of the best way to deal with them. preparing my son for preschool was a big challenge for me as he was quite attached to me and being pampered made the things more difficult so i gradually handled this challenge. My son was in preschool when he was 3 years old and he was pretty cool about it. I had prepared him mentally for the preschool. He had even goner there before getting admission. He liked it. He saw the toys he would get and met his teachers. I told him that he would have many friends and he will learn many things and many new games. He was actually quite eager to go there and could hardly wait the few months after vacation. He was quite excited about new songs that he would learn. So i think every parent must prepare his or her kid for preschool.
