hi,
My 5 month old son, fell off our bed which is abt 2 feets,yesterday. He didnt cry much ,just about a minute. I fed him ,and he was alright almost immdly. I checked for any bruises or bumps but there was nothing, just a little reddishness on the forehead that went away in abt 2 mins. I tried to check if he cried when i pressed his hands or feet or back but he didnt show any sign of pain.
However, I cant say enough, how very guilty i have been feeling and just how very disturbed my mind has been since then.
He has been playful, almost doing whatever he does, EXCEPT that me and my husband feel that hes not responding to us when we call out his name. However he does turn to other sounds like the Tv or when the phone rings or his toys music. He even responds when we smile at him and as usual he laughs aloud. I even got him checked by a doctor.
but I still feel very unsure and my mind is plagued with doubts.

It would be great if someone out there could share any such experiences or suggest anything I should be doing.

Its allright, just think that he has achived another milestone. But at this stage it is better to keep your baby on the floor when he is unattended. Better safe than sorry.

I can surely understand how the guilt comes when the baby falls or hurts himself. My little girl (7 months) has already had quite a few falls from the bed and the sofa. If the baby seems alright just don't worry. HE IS FINE. As my mom in law says these little things aand even bigger ones are bound to happen and they just make them stronger!!It is not ur fault so forget the guilt.
As faras responding t his name is concerned some babies are just a little late...no reason for concern..my girl responded to her name in 6 months..she never turned over..and hasn't crawled yet!!So don't worry..as lobg as ur baby is happy and healthy just enjoy!!
