Due Date Club February 2008:NT scan ?

I have an appt for NT scan on July 30th. I am exactly 11w4d by July 30th.

Websites suggest to have the scan between 11-14 weeks. Am i getting it done little early ?. Should I wait for another week or so ?.

My Gynec had asked me to do a scan between 11-13 weeks.

Thank you Kalpana, Sonali & aparna.

I visted my doctor today. She says she' ll recommend different ttest in 18 weeks, she normally does not recommend NT scan. I just leave the things to her. Thanks alot for all your suggestions.

One good thing is I could get the glimpse of my baby again. I just can' t get enough of it..:)

Perky, NT scan and CVS scanning are optional tests that are used to see if baby has any genetic/chromosomal disorders. YOU HAVE TO REQUEST the test.
It is combination of blood test and ultrasound, they measure baby' s spinal chord thickness to check for down syndrome defects and compare those numbers with blood test.
With my first pregnancy this test was not done as I didn' t know about it and I did not request it. I am getting it done today for my 2nd and I am 11weeeks 4 days. My Dr told me that this is good timeline.

I didn´ t do this scan for my first, so I am little curious to know the procedure.

Don' t worry. May be they forgot to mention it to you or may be she/he doesn' t advice.
Either case, why don' t you give them a call and ask them that your friends are going for this test and do you need to?
I' ll leave these things to doc. My doc even said that this was optional test. But we thought we would go for it.
I didn' t have this test when I had my son. So, don' t worry if they don' t tell you.

Not sure if I can answer your question but I am sure its ok.

I just had my 12th week doc appointment. It was done in 15min. They did urine test and heard the baby' s heart beat.
My doc said, its very good. He found it in a sec and said that its good sign. He said in some people its difficult to find the heart beat (ofcourse its not alarming,for those. it can be heard after a week)

I did lose 1.5lbs b' coz of nausea but my doc said its ok to lose 1,2lbs in first trimester. he didnot give me any medicine as mine is mostly in the morning and I am able to keep food inside after 11am.
Also, my pre-screen (NTscan) is scheduled for this friday (I' ll be 12W4Days). This was scheduled by doc office only. Can' t wait to see the baby :)

As Aparna have mentioned, there is nothing to worry. I had no clue about this scan, 4 yrs back during by 1st pregnancy.
But if you are still concerned, its better to call the doc.

worried...

Hi Kalpana & Aparna,

I am worried after reading your posts. I had first doc's visit after 10w. I hv just completed 12w now. My next doctor's appointment is scheduled after 2 weeks.
She has not done any blood/ urine test. She has not asked me to schedule any NT scan too. Is that a concern??
