Weight Concerns:Underweight
2006-01-11
Name: Sadhana

Hi

I have a 11 month old baby who weighs only 7 kgs. His birth weight was 3 kgs. I can see that he is very thin. He is otherwise healthy and active. Please do let me know if someone else went through the same situation.

I too have a baby who is 1year.His b.wt was 3.25kg but now he is just 7.3kg.Even i was much worried about this. But even my doctor asked me not to worry at all. Also weight depends on how you(i mean the babys parents) were at that age.Doctors call it \" Pedigry\" (am not sure think so) ;-)

dear sadhana,
u dont hv to worry about ur kid. as u said that he is very active. my son is 1 yr 3 mths old and he is weighing just 9 kg. his birthweight was 3.5 kg. so as per his age he shd be 10.5 kg. i consult with my doc. he said why u people r worrying about the weight he is gaining the weight as per his capacity. n if the child is active u shd not worry at all.
still i wld like to suggest about one thing i.e. BANA RICH powder. this is powder made out of big bananas from Kerala. u will get it mainly in kerala stores. u just hv to mix it in milk n boil it for a few minutes but u hv to stir it while boiling. otherwise it will stick to the vessel. this powder is very good for gaining weight as also for digestion.

bye. i request u to pls vote for my baby devesh in this week contest.

Our weight loss story
We were killing ourself with food, and we both were suffering from diabetes. After the surgery we are two whole new people. We act, walk and talk differently. We are finally feeling the way we were meant to feel. We are able to walk, dance, work and do other things without needing to sit down every few minutes. Weight loss surgery is not a diet…. it is a whole new life! ... - Meghana Prabhu [View Message]
RE:not gaining weight
Hi dear the best way is to make your child do exercise and by doing this he will get hungry and will start having food and at the same time you can also start giving food which are rich in protein and fibre so that he filled with all those food and don't forget to give him a glass of milk with pediasure..
