I have a 2year 4 month old son. He did everything at the average pace such as sit up, roll and walk, now also he can’t speak clearly. Although, at around 16 months he started showing keen interest in books. By age 2 he could recognize around 125 which include words of three languages (Kannada, Hindi and English). He has also done other unusual things for his age.
1. Now he can now recognize around 250 words (estimation)
2. He can count up to 10.
3. Knew all his colours (9 colours)
4. Recognise all letters of the alphabet, and a word starts with respective letter (i.e. from A for “Apple” to Z for “Zebra”)
5. Knows most animals by picture and word with their respective sounds. (cow, kangaroo, panda, lion, giraffe, crocodile, hippo and so on)
6. Knows many birds, vegetables and fruits.
7. Knows most of his body parts before his 2nd birthday.
8. He doesn' t make the usual \" scribble\" that most kids his age makes. He first started out making tiny little straight lines all over paper He has good control over his the pencil.
9. He has read almost 10 books...knows them by their titles.
10. Can distinguish between reality and fantasy, if we gave him a laughing doll he knows the doll is not laughing and he searches for the speakers from where the voice is coming.
11. Can easily arrange blocks according to their shapes.
12. He can turn on his father’s laptop and uses simple commands such as “escape”, or “f5” to start slide show etc (which we never thought him, just by observing he is trying these things).
But he gets frustrated easily if trying to complete tasks, Gets easily bored with the things and activities and wants something new.
Is this mean he is gifted child or is he just a fast learner? What should I do to help his develop further? I just want my son to be happy and I don’t want him to be bored.
