Tired of telling your children to stop being couch potatoes.
If you have realized that you cannot stop your children from watching TV, here are tips that at least help you to get the best out of the idiot box.

1. Choose the programmes your children should watch. You should be able to clearly underline the programmes not meant for children, at least in the initial years.

2. Watch with them. Let TV time be family time.

3. Arouse their curiosity. Ask them questions related to their favorite programmes. TV can be a learning experience if TV watching is made interactive by nature. For instance, while watching a science quiz/mythological serial/chat show, ask them to relate to their classroom experiences.

4. TV time should never be overlapped with meals.

5. Discourage late night television viewing.

Is your child also glued to the television all the time? How do you stop him? Share with us!

You are rightchildren and tv do not really mix!!!!
This is what i have done disconnect the tv and tell hem the tv is on vacation
and come outside and get them to have family time with yardwork [make it a game]
kick the ball around
plant flowers.
or simply have have a pinic
Get the kids top have some kind of physical activity outside.
Children and everyone else needs at least 20 minutes of outside time to get the full effect of the sun on themselves to keep themselves healthy

v parents ' ve to take some serious steps in this regard. substitutin tv with other activities like paintin, drawin, outdoor activities, work sheets, mind activities etc is a very good idea... make them interesting for them. n believe me it works.

This article is good but I have one question. How do you control your child' s viewing habits if you are not present at home? Is the best solution disconnecting the tv?
