My baby is 4 months old now and he was not gaining enough weight from last month. We took him to our doctor and he suggested to admit him to the hospital for the observation. They performed lots of tests on him and they finally came to the conclusion that he has reflux problem. Now the only solution to cure the reflux is the 'Nissen' and 'G tube' surgery. As the parents we said no to the surgery and getting ready to take a second opinion. Right now we are in lot of stress and it's hard to make decision on this. Are there any parents who had been through with this situation? Please help us if you have any information on this.

I think it is unncessary to go for the surgery. My son used to throw up like a fountain until 4 months. But then he stopped. Here is what i did. I added milicon drops(gas drops) to every bottle i used to give him. I changed to disposable playtex bottle. Used a medium flow nipple. Im giving him zantac right now as some one earlier said. Just be patient. Some babies throw up. It is just a reflux. It will go away pretty soon. Just relax and when ever you are tensed think that there are also other babies who do it. Talk to me if you want to. I will give my number also.

my son is now 1 year old . he had reflux when he was 4 mounth. I saty in us and the suggested me giving him zantac he was for few mouths on zantac. and he is absolutely fine .

bye samyuktha replied. hi, my daughter too had the same problem when she was in her 4th month. she didn't drink milk at all and would just cry whenever i feed her. she would be hungry have a few sips and would start crying, then we admitted her and found out she had GERD. They did an endoscopy on her and was put on prilosec 5ml twice a day for a couple of months and later on pepcid 0.5ml twice a day for a couple of months. she still spits out and doc says she would be okay if she starts sitting and moving on her own, which would be atleast an year. i felt sorry for your little one and you, as its very painful to see her in hospital and stuff. why don't you go for a second opinion elsewhere? i guess medications and feeding her little by little every 2 hrs would be better for her. also as your daughter is almost 4 months, try giving solids too as they won't come up fast. if you are feeding her in a bottle try adding rice cereal to it as it will thicken the milk and it won't come out fast. all the best. nikishah replied. my baby doll is also having similar problem & she is on Ng tube to support her feedings 7 make her grow/ she cudnt drink by her mouth at all as she also got mouth aversion......... But it is not necessary i think if ur baby is already taking by mouth...... Prilosec is a good medication that worked for immidiate relief fm reflux to our little one......Ya thinking of g tube can just bring tears to any parent.....
